Three Days Grace – (I Hate) Everything About You lyrics
Every time we lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven't missed you yet

Every roommate kept awake
By every sigh, and scream we make
All the feelings that I get
But I still don't miss you yet

Only
when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

Every time we
lie awake
After every hit we take
Every feeling that I get
But I haven't missed you yet

Only when I stop to think about it

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

Only when I stop to think
About you, I know
Only when you stop to think
About me, do you know?

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?
You hate everything about me
Why do you love me?

I hate
You hate
I hate
You love me

I hate everything about you
Why do I love you?

I guess it may be just me, but does no one else see how this song has to do with drug addiction? It may have been written as a love song, but this could also very well be about a drug addict talking to the object of his addiction. "I hate everything about you. Why do I love you?" Could be like the guy knows it's horrible for him and it's destroying him, but he can't help his addiction.

This is drugs, drugs everywhere. They take hits, meaning obviously blunts, and the silent screams are basically the effects from the drugs. He hates them, he wants to get rid of them, and if you see it in the end of the song he just asks why they do that to him "Why do you love me?"

    One:
He could be talking about drugs. Drugs keep you awake and most drug abusers hate themselves and the drug for taking it in the first place. He brings up "every hit we take".

    Two:
But he also could be talking about a relationship that happens to be abusive, "every hit we take" and that she loves him but he hates her, most likely because she is a deceitful person, backstabbing him, then returning to him later.

I never got that! Now that you say that, there are a bunch of indicators of that. "After every hit we take", "All the feelings that I get", etc, etc. You are completely right. Instead of a song about relationships between two human beings, they could be talking about how 'missing it/you' is really not letting it go and being addicted still. Considering Three Days Grace's other songs, I wouldn't be surprised if it really were about drug addiction. (Painkiller, probably the most obvious of the bunch, possibly Never Too Late, although that's more about anything bad that happened, and Over and Over, which could be interpreted, instead of a love song, of relapsing after rehabilitation and getting addicted to drugs over and over again.)

Thank you, sir. You just made my day with this theory. I'm probably going to be thinking about this for a lot longer than I should ponder anything like this.
