The hating and the waiting, hesitating
I just wanna be done with you, faking
For the taking but I'm wicked
Up to the fact that you're lying, denying
Justifying all the actions you take
It's pathetic and poetic

It's just sick!
It's just sick!

Is compromise something you don't understand?
You force your hand but my eyes are wide open
Caught in the web of your self-serving plan
Don't force my hand when my eyes are wide open

Seeing is believing, now I'm leaving
All the damage is done
You've broken the notion of trust
'cause you're lying and denying
Justifying all the actions you take
It's pathetic and poetic

It's just sick!
It's just sick!

Is compromise something you don't understand?
You force your hand but my eyes are wide open
Caught in the web of your self-serving plan
Don't force my hand when my eyes are wide open

Seeing is believing, now I'm leaving
All the damage is done

All the damage done!
All the damage done!

Is compromise something you don't understand?
You force your hand but my eyes are wide open
Caught in the web of your self-serving plan
Don't force my hand when my eyes are wide open
Don't force my hand when my eyes are wide open
Force my hand
When my eyes are wide open

Lying and denying is just sick!
Lying and denying is just sick!
It's just sick!

For me it describes my marriage, my wife developed a alcohol and oill problem, stole money, sold property made up an endless amount of excuses, lies and deceptiin until i figured out everything but i dealt with it trying to keep my family together until the verbal and mental abuse started affecting my daughter thats when my eyes became wide open to the insanity. I had to end my 14 year marriage that had been dead for 6 years. It's a very deep song but i don't know his meaning behind it, some of his lyrics are personsl, some he speaks in 3rdthe person but i believe he is the best song writer

I dont think the meaning of 'eyes wide open' by staind is as simple as infidelity. I believe that yes it pertains to a relationship, but i think its about somebody who is fed up being in a one sided self serving relationship. For example the lyrics is compromise something you dont understand? That means to me that this person has done nothing but compromise and bend over backward while the other is just out for themselves. It sounds to me that the person finally woke up after years of being with a selfish person who only stayed around because it was made easy because the other person loved them so much and did any and everything but now his eyes are wide open and he sees them for what they really are

The meaning of the song, eyes wide open, by staind is: well i see it as a guy who's wife/girlfriend/ significant other cheated on him or did something unforgivable, and this person wants to like get them back and act like nothing happened and their idea of doing so is to like sweeten up to this guy, and he sees right past it, like in the song when it says "don't force my hand when my eyes are wide open" it clearly shows he has no interest in this persons advances and thinks you either have to try a lot harder to win him back or that there is no possible way and that the damage is done. Also when they say " caught in the web or your self serving plan" it means he is stuck in a trance where all is controlled by the betrayer. Well that's my perception of its meaning.
