Someday, when I'm older
And they never know my name
Somehow, if I'm honest
I can never feel ashamed
Maybe I was wrong to
Hold you up so high
Now I know I've lost you
To the feelings I kept inside

I don't know if it felt like
I wanted you here, the way that I wanted you last time
We're not on the same page, you don't even know me
Cause you never took the time

Someday, when it's over
And you never show your face
I hope you'll remember
How I tried to make you a place
And so now, I move on
To keep my piece of mind
In someway, I've failed you
But I just ran out of time

I don't know if it felt like
I wanted you here, the way that I wanted you last time
We're not on the same page, you don't even know me
Cause you never took the time

I'm not sure that you hear me
I'm not sure that you look at me the same
I will always be attached to you
But I'm never gonna feel the same

I don't know if it felt like
I wanted you here, the way that I wanted you last time
We're not on the same page, you don't even know me
Cause you never took the time
No, you never took the time

Someday, when I'm older...

He is thinking about how he will feel in the future, when he remembers the past. He doesn't feel ashamed about what happened, not really blaming himself. Others might not find his story as important as he, hence "they never know my name." People tend to forget history. Unless it is recorded, it is forgotten. This boy truly loved this girl, but thought she was so perfect that he put her up on a pedestal. This girl knew she wasn't this perfect, and was feeling bad, like she wasn't that good, or not good enough. She probably didn't know who she was yet or have a good self-image. And he didn't show her enough how much he loved her because he was shy. He doesn't know if she knew that he really wanted her. He feels like they have grown apart now, and don't know how each other feels about the other one. And he thinks she didn't give him a good chance with her. When their relationship is over, they never see each other anymore because she keeps to herself. He hopes she will remember how he tried to make it work. But, he has to move on now so that he won't go crazy. He didn't have enough time to prove he loved her, and feels like he failed. He doesn't know how she feels at all about him because she doesn't tell him. He will always love her, and never will be the same without her. When he is older he will look back, still thinking of her.

The day after my son died i got into his car to just find out what the last song was he would have listened to on his cd. It was someday. I listened in disbelief as it was like my son talking to me. I listen to it often now. I had it played at his funeral. To me it is my son telling his story of how no one ever really understood what he was going thru with hemophilia and aids. "someday, when i'm older"... Was his wish of what he knew would not come true.

Uh... Yeah, I agree with the girl before me.
That description is actually verbatim what I'm going through right now. It hurts to see it in writing.
