This song "lily" makes me think that she is not allowed to go anywhere without a guardian of her family's permission. They warned her but she went to see what is hiding in the woods but clearly, it's like whatever creature or human she met is allowed to enter the entrance of magic to make her feel more comfortable.

I think that, lily was a young sheltered girl. She was a rebel towards her strict parents boundaries and do one day set off, not knowing what would happen next. This “creature” soon drawed her into it’s trap, “everything you want in gold” her family was poor, and she put herself at risk, she was continuously growing greedy remembering how it felt to watch the other young kids in her youth show of their belongings to the others. She accepted the sketchy offer, putting herself at risk “walking on cold thin ice” She was being drawn in, “she knew she was hypnotized.” She clearly knew all along this had been a bad idea, but she couldn’t care less. “And then it broke, and she awoke again.” She stood still paralyzed, still thinking how far from home she was. She ran aimlessly around the forest to find her house she had once referred to as a castle in her youth. But, without any luck whatsoever, she kept running into dead ends in which she would spot the “creature” once again. There was no hope in finding her home, and she missed her family dearly, despite being a rebel towards them most of the time.

After reading so many meanings it felt that the song can relate with any one of them but what impression I got first after listening it is lily innocent girl as adolescents, kids moving towards teenage how they r protected in healthy environment by their guardians but teenage creates a rebellious nature in them to cross their castle walls. Step into the world where their soft nd vulnerable minds get influenced of doping nd drug habbits which is represented by the voice coming behind that follow me where I go, give u everything u've been dreaming of. Like we knw drugs provides a sense of well being feeling like we r happy nd hv even thng what we want. Then the part comes where lily knw she is hypnotised but still walking on thin cold ice which breaks nd she drove in this part represents the addition they suffer from how they realise it's not what they thought but can't get rid of it even when try to the voice comes from behind that follow every where I go..... and the innocent teenager couldn't help them selves . And as the song starts, we all r warned nd taught abt wrong habits nd addiction by our parents nd teachers like lily ws warned so this is what I think is the meaning...

My interpretation of the song is as follows:
Happy little girl growing within her ‘castle walls’ protected by her family.
Just like all of us, when in her teen years she started being afraid of the word which may make us think of the insecurities that we all have and the fear of how we will be perceived by our friends.
The family warned her about the dangers of going out in certain places and doing certain things but she did one night.
‘Now and then’ she tried to run (being curious) and one night she did it. She went out and tried drugs.
The ‘creatures’ are drugs and the addiction started telling her ‘don’t you worry just follow everywhere’ - do drugs all the time
‘Top over the mountains of valley low’ - when you’re happy and when you’re sad
‘Give you everything you’ve been dreaming of’ and ‘That'll be the magic story you’ve been told’ - I’ll give you illusions of wellbeing
‘Just let me in’ - this one make me think it was heroin.

I love this song. it makes me sad though, when I think of this reality that is always more and more pungent nowadays especially among very young people.
The fight with drugs is not a war that we have to fight just because of one damn night! The strength of saying ‘no’ to drugs is within ourselves and they are not uninvited demons like the big bad wolf! They are invited - ‘just let me in ohoh’, right?

Warning my interpretation is very dark.
I think Lily grows with a very overprotective family that doesn’t let her do anything, as she is still a kid. She is sick and tired of it so she sneaks out to the woods behind her house. There she sees a grown man that starts a conversation with her. As soon as she gets suspicious of this man and tries to run away, he sexually harasses her and tells her that if she doesn’t let him do this every night, he will not give her a fantasy life. She soon realizes that he is using her and calls the cops. She is still haunted by this and keeps dreaming about the event.

It’s an alcohol/drug addition. The voice is the urge to use it talking to her. Telling her it will solve all her problems. She’s knows it’s bad, but she can’t stop. In the beginning, they try to tell her to not do it, but she does, and she can’t escape. At the end, she’s screaming and begging for help, because she can’t help herself. She’s realizing the addiction is taking over her life.

I think it has something to do with raping and how it's so unexpected. "follow everywhere i go, top over the mountains or valley low" is the person trying to lure her to his home so he can do things to her. and the "give you everything you've been dreaming of." is the luring part. and the "just let me in." is basically "just let me into your head." and " you'll be safe under my control" is like, you'll be perfectly safe with me when i drug you. make sense? Raping is scary. Don't be like Lily. Dont go with someone you don't know. Keep safe everyone!!! Men are mostly doing this to women. and it's disgusting and disrespectful. make sure your doors are locked at night.

I think I know. There's Lily. She's innocent and happy. Then one day she encounters a "monster" In the song it says "Just let me in." As the "monster" is her rude negative sloth side of her is trying to take over. She continually tries to ignore her bad thought but it keeps on coming and eventually the "monster" takes over lily. I think lily is about a girl who was always protected but never felt loved so she left her home, but she was scared and lonely so her demons started talking to her telling her that if she gives into them she would have the life that she had always wanted, she needs help escaping then but there is no one there and the only thing to talk to is her demons. So she is stuck with her demons telling her to give in to them.

The singer is actually the Ghost. It's like she trick Lily that there is a monster out there and whatever she says.

I think that Lily is about a teenager who grows up in a rich family; hence the line "she grew up within the castle walls". But she has overprotective parents, so time and time again she tries to run away. Her parents tell her that there are bad people out there, disguised as good people, hence "there are creatures who are hiding in hte dark". But she doesn't listen. So she runs away again one night. She wanders through the forest and meets a stranger, who tells her that it's okay, just follow him and he will give her a better life. She is convinced and comes with him. She is charmed by his personality (fake obviously) and follows him through the forest. Then he starts getting rough with her and she realizes the situation that she is in and starts sprinting away, back home. He chases her, and she's screaming for someone, anyone who will help her get away from him. He calls her, trying to lure her back with promises of better things to come, but she keeps running. Running and running and running. At last, she gets tired, and the man catches up to her. "Just let me in, ooh."

This song is about kids running away and becoming prey to predatory people out there, either men or women. Be careful and keep your kids safe, and don't be overprotective so they hate you.

I think it represents a young lady, whose parents are overprotective, trying to be independent for once but then encounters a cunning man, who offers her "everything" she could ever imagine, and was convinced. The young women then realizes that this man is manipulating her for his own entertainment. She tried to run away from the abusive relationship but he won't let her leave that easily.

Lily is a girl in a family where she's well protected and not allowed to feel love son she runs out to the world looking for love where she falls in love with a bad cunnig person who deceive her. But as time pass she understand that she's being deceived and she runs away from him. But he continuously trying to make her think that she belongs with him. So she tries to look for help from others around her. I think when she's looking for help nobodys there for help, depicts how our world neglect people who suffers from depression and loneliness. So end midway never telling us whether she got help or not. Which leaves us with a question will we help lily or just ignore her. This song seem to have a very deeper meaning if we listen to it carefully.

For me there are explicit and implied meaning. Just like in the song, lily was a lil girl who afraid and live in castle etc. Its a story where lily runs from castle where she live and goes to the wood. Before she runs, her family warned her of an evil creatures who lives there. So when she was in the wood, the creature offer to give her everything if she follows it. It will lead her to the top of the mountain. Theres a valley low which can give anything she wish for, but in exchange, she needs to let it into her body and become one with the devil. Which means, the creature will have her body. So like a magic, her wish may come true one by one and the creature will always protect her from death and all. However, lily don’t want to give herself to the devil. So she try to run and was hypnotised by the creature where she feels like walking on a cold thin ice and it breaks. The falls then free her from the hypnotise. So when she awake, she continue running and screaming for help as the creature keep chasing her. So for the other meaning. I think its about a teenage girl who always stuck at home because her parents are too controlling. She does afraid of the world outside as her family warned her that there are too many bad influence and she is too young to do whatever she wants. But as time goes by, her curiosity grew, which lead her to run away from home. So when shes outside, she met bad guys who promised to make her dreams come true like become a rich singer or such, but in exchange she must follows and live with them or do whatever bad things they ask. They even promise to protect her. After some times, she knew she were cheated by these guys, however she had no choice but to stay and regret. She had done an awful mess and ruin her life. So she try to escape and seek help from anyone. But its not easy to escape as these bad guys will keep chasing her and the mess she had done will haunt her life forever.

Sorry I mean 'didn't know' part = that was Lily was little girl means plain, unknowledge, expectation for human who wants all dreams come true but will do anything althought the darkness beside, doesn't mind the risk for future.

What I'm thinking Lily being human like us, didn't know she 'trapped' in comfort zone (with all her dreams going) altought people warned her there was a 'creature'. Till she realized she was on dark side controlled by demon (felt happy but that was fake world) then she tried to go far away from the darkness, screaming to get some helps but nobody there too late (thin ice broken) she fell in the darkness already, just the demon beside her who wants her to give up, take control her again (do any what its feel good in this world but not for heaven) and keep shows catching dreams (but that was just illusion) till the end (death).

Lily is actually Alan Walker wanting to expand out and even besides being told to be aware of the evil things out there, he went on. Being trapped by the luring beast whom he thought could give him everything he ever wanted but later when he knew it was an illusion, he could n't get rid of it.

I think it's about drag persuasion. This is a story about how someone falling into the dark world of drugs. The instant dreams reach but only for temporary is the best description of drugs. But after that, nothing but regret. Then she tried to run meaning is her regret that she don't hear the warning.

I think What happens here is she fell for the spirit\person\whatever it is speaking to her and let them into her head. They found her and well. Murdered her. It's cold but I think that's what it is. She never really got hypnotised, she just fell for it. And she tried to run away when she realised it. Lilly was warned by her loved ones to be careful in the woods. Maybe that's the reason that she grew up in castled walls?

This might scared you out there, but I think lily is about future/past. lily somebody who doesn't know the real story of something bad that will happen. people of believer are trying to warned and told 'magic story' that this 'creature- a person' who lived between 2 mountain(which we do not know) alone which soon will come out to the world. The person is the one who will control everybody, and people who believe in him will say he is a god. it is not hypnotise but people still will follow him because he can give everything eg, food. Just let me in means you need to follow him and let him in so that you will be safe otherwise he will kill you. I think it’s about drug abuse. A naive young girl Lily try to use it despite of what people told her about how creepy the thing is. It control her life. Takes her up and down. Hypnotized her with beautiful and magical dreams. When she finally wakes up, she realized that she’s in trouble. Run fast to look for help. But the thing keeps follow and seduce her. Its about a little girl who didn't know about the dangers of the world.Her parents warned her of the creepy creepy creatures hiding in the dark.A magic like creature came and told her that it would give her anything she needs and she'll be safe under its control only when she accepts it.When she realized it had taken control of her mind,she started running.but behind her she heard it say that she shouldn't worry but follow it everywhere it goes and it will give her anything she wants.(I think this creature is hope)

I think it talks about drug. And what it brings, I don't know though but it seems like talking about it. Everyone told you not to use it, because there is something "hiding" on the darkside of the effects. People always say that using drug will give you everything, u've been dreaming of, like the lyrics told. But when you finally "awake" from the effect, you will scream and want to escape, but you can't.

What i can think of from this Song is that
Lily was tired of under the control of their Families(Castle wall or Safe) and Who wants to advent or longing to see whats beyond the forest.
One day,Lily decided to leave her house for good without any knowlegde of what is out there and when she was out in the dark all alone in the forest with fear,Demons?(They,Creatures)which could move everywhere with possesion of a human body then they hypnotise her and told her let me in,let me in so that i can fulfill desire of her give everything she wants whether be whatever and Sadly she was so obsessed rather align with them.
However,as time passes Lily come back to her sense of being hypnotised and trying to walk on the right(walking on cold thin ice)path by her own then finally it broke and ran,ran,ran faster than,started screaming for help but no one was there as is it was not audible.For a long time she was under the control,dont know where she is being led to during hypnotised by the demons and was taken.

I think this whole song is a story about a journey of people trapped in dark society. Lily is a normal people with talent. She could be anyone. She-They were known by people as a talented person, neither in singing, acting or anything.

One day, they want to be more popular by signing into dark society which have been told it is danger and not safe (lily enter the wood even people told her it's danger). The dark society promised fames, wealth and everything they want but they have to give up their soul to the creature of dark society (promise of the creature to give everything, "follow everywhere i go..." until, "just let me in..")

The story followed with the regret of people who have been in dark society as they are not happy even though they have everything bcs the creature has hold their soul (Lily trying to escape by running away from the creature). They try to escape, calling for help from the people by delivering their messages in their work such as songs, acting or anything (Lily crying for help). But, they cant escape as they have sold their soul to the creature..

I feel that this song has a much more deeper meaning. In my opinion, it is a representation of a pure, innocent mind. It's 'sheltered' by happy thoughts but as it learns to step out of its comfort zone, it was exposed to many 'influences' that might cause the mind to wonder off. As it ponder upon the thoughts, it get deeper and darker. Just like 'the woods' and there is where all the demons hide. Once in, you can come out of it but they will haunt you. It encompasses all negative emotions. Example, insecurity. It latches on you and it creeps up subconsciously. Depression too.

Despite her being raised in a perfect environment, she has her own demons and it sometimes talk to her, demanding to submit to its wishes in exchange she can have everything she wants, courage and freedom. A constant cry in one of the rooms of her grand castle. Little did she know, the demon was herself all along, another Lily who is exactly what the sheltered Lily had dreamed of becoming. It was too late when she realized. She asked for help over and over again, but she was already beyond help.

I think this song is about a girl who encounters her alter ego. On one side you have "Lilly.. (the).. little girl" who is suppose to embody naivety, fearing all she hasn't experienced. On the other side you have this enchanting echo coming form within nature itself I.E herself. This force speaks about desire, magic, the unconscious, its like the thrill of playing with fire. She is both hypnotised and scared of the control it has over her. All this passion can be positive or negative. It seems like it is turning negative for her as she can not reconcile her two egos and all her fears are surfacing. Lilly the little girl fears the unknown. "She knew she was hypnotised. And walking on cold thin ice. Then it broke, and she awoke again". She "Started screaming, is there someone out there? Please help me. Come get me". Maybe she felt alone in her struggle because her demons were internal and she was too emotional to communicate them clearly. Maybe a new relationship was the catalyst for this internal struggle. Maybe this person brought out a painful and cathartic side to Lily.

I think this song is about how a girl was always being forced to stay inside because it says castle walls and she wanted to see the outside world or that she just never had a problem in life because she is that perfect. When she did I think that she was running from her problems. When it says "That there was a creature" Maybe that creature was problems and it only got worse. When the song was "talking" about you will be safe under my control. I think that was about how the problems can override her and lead her to death. Then when it was about the part when she broke free is when she found happiness in her life. At the end she need help and wanted to be with someone's side.

I personally think the story (song) is about a little curious child named Lily. (That's obvious) Her parents may have heard stories about those woods when they were little. I think that they told at such a young age, that it was traumatizing. So they tried to keep her safe. But as (I'm so sorry) dumb as they are they couldn't realize that a child is always curious. By keeping her away from that place, made her even more curious! So one night she escaped from that "castle",someone (obviously a spirit) found an infant lost in a wood, of course it would take advantage! It was smart enough to know her deepest desires like it said 'Everything you want in gold...' She being an child of course was fooled. The spirit hypnotized her. Then out of the blue, sense came back to her. She screamed but she was alone and plus who knows after how many days she came back to her senses! It could have been a week or two! She was probably deep in the forest!

I feel like this song is a story about a girl, Lily, who like most of us ,grew up as an overprotected kid,knowing that the world is a dangerous place. She built a protective wall around her life and was afraid of trying new things. At some point though, maybe as a teenager or in her 20s,she becomes rebellious and decides to break the walls and explore what's behind them. She starts doing illegal stuff like drugs, joining bad gangs etc. Everyone tries to warn her but she doesn't listen. She's in too dip when she realizes it and has almost lost all control over her life and the bad life choices want to gain full control of her. It's too late when she tries to change and is begging for help so that she can gain back control over her life.

To me Lily is about Lily Evans (that’s just me) they tell her to get away from the forbidden forest but she went and was captured by death eaters and when she runs away it’s because she misses her family and then she was bullied for being a muggle born

I think the song Lily by Alan Walker is about a girl who was afraid of the outside world and her family warned her about dangerous creatures and she went out in the woods and a monster ( vampire, wolf-human, etc. ) got her under a spell and she was abused later on.

I think the lyrics mean lily was a normal girl, who's parents sheltered her from the outside world. Even though she was afraid, she was curious. When she snuck out, she encountered the "thing" which told her she could have everything she wanted. Being small and vulnerable, she agreed. When she finally realises that the "thing" is bad she tries to run for help but to her misfortune, it is too late and the "thing" has taken full possession over her already.

I think Lily is an innocent (Lily is an English name which means innocent) girl who flees from (a demon?) a force and goes to the woods. She is frightened because many people told her, ¨don't go there, there's creatures who are hiding in the dark.¨ the (demon?) came back and bribed her with ¨everything you've been dreaming of" in exchange of her following it and letting it in her mind or soul. She didn't agree but the (demon?) thing got in her anyway. ¨she knew she was hypnotized¨ the (demon?) thing made her do dangerous things so it could have her body, and walking on cold, thin ice¨. Whenever I hear the song I think about yes a little girl but her parents are telling her the world is bad don't trust it will only get you hurt but she doesn't listen and she goes and decides to y'know look at the world in a point of view of well a child, sweet everyones kind, rainbows, butterflies and what not. Well she meets a man who seems nice so she trusts him and he well betrayes her in I guess rape or kidnapping. This song is can be interpreted as a dark tragedy, Lily was a young girl who grew up sheltered within a loving family and was innocent and pure. She had no idea what was beyond the castle walls that she grew up within. However as time passed Lily felt as she was living in a prison within the castle walls. Eventually she left at dusk when no one was watching and began to explore the woods. The woods was described as a dark place which housed many dark spirits who were constantly hiding. But the eventuality is she encounters a dark spirit in which promises her the riches and the highs of life but she does not know how dangerous this entity is. The entity asks for permissions to to let her go inside her and tells her she'll be fine and safe under the spirits control. (The Entity could represent heroin). Lily continues to follow the entity around further and further away from the castle she grew up within. In the end she walking on thin ice fell into the ice cold water and woke up. Lily realized too late she traveled long and far and tried running back to the castle walls and the last you hear is the screams of Lily as she is completely lost in the woods.

My interpretation of the song is a little deep? Or Dark as someone would say? If your not into like dark stuff I would not advise continuing to read. I think that the song is about a girl who only has a mother and the mother has had some traumatizing and terrible experience in the past. So she hides her daughter, Lily from the world. Her Mother had experiences with Depression, Anxiety and Insecurity. And was mentally unstable and doesn't want her daughter to feel the pain she did before. So she hides lily. And lily insists going outside but is rejected countless times. So she escapes and goes to a town and asks questions that the town people find are stupid and idiotic questions. So they judge her and a particular group bully her for a few days. As lily becomes more and more depressed and mentally unstable she begins to have her "demons" (depression) talking to her telling her to do things to her self. Then she starts doing them when she knows they're wrong. Finally her Mother finds her but its too late cos she's hanging from the tree dead. I believe that the song is about a girl who's parents really want to protect her from the outside world, and what they know lurks within it. She, like most kids, rebels against her parents. She then runs off into the night and does whatever she wants (pretty much, I guess..) until she comes upon a creature, who I believe would be a demon. This demon then asks her to 'let me in,' what demons ask before possession. She then is like 'sure,' not knowing what she is signing up for. A period of time goes by and she 'wakes up' from her possession (Maybe the ice she fell into was holy water..? I don't know). Lily realizes that the demon is in fact a demon and tries to escape it. But, to no avail. She is placed under the demon's control again. At the end of the song, she is fully possessed by the demon and asks people to 'let my in.'

This was my take on the song! I know it's a bit dark, but it is a good warning sign. Parents almost always know best, so listen to them! Also, be careful with demons! This probably is very confusing and totally off but that's how I see the song. No, No, No. Its about us. All of us. Lily is us. Most of us are afraid to escape. We're stuck stay in the wall castle. Wall castle means comfort zone. And then after we ran away, we found many ways and we confused between which one is right which one is wrong. Just like Lily. Let anyone controlled you? Or just be you? Yeahh, we love our comfort zone. Listen this song, I think I will follow Lily. Lily is a little kid and this story is like red riding hood type with a twist as she goes into the woods and is greeted by this magical being (evil spirit/ghost) which promises to give lily a happy life like she always dreams of like in the movies she has watched which have a happily ever after theme however this evil spirit wants to take control of her and she needs to let her in her for it to work and when she snaps and sees what is happening she gets scared and that is when she realizes what has happened (ice breaking) then she screams but none can hear her as she is alone.

The song is all about the difficulties of our life. Whenever we go out from our comfort zone we are having new trouble in our path. It's hard to take our First step. Sometimes people stop us and when we escape from our place, sometimes we are restrained or controlled by outsiders. At that time we all remains alone and no come to help us. That time we shout, cry and try to run away from our problems and don't face them. The song tries to tell us the hard situations of our life when we had to face them to make our dreams into reality.

I think it could be about online safety. Little girls and boys going on the internet without anyone knowing after their parents telling them about the dangers. A man contacts her and tells her he is safe, she thinks back to what her parents and friends told her and she tries to escape but he tells her not to tell anyone and he will find her. Just my opinion, i think in dark in genneral tho.

Well the song was also on the Death Stranding Soundtrack and I relate it to Higgs and Amelie. Could go to either. *Spoilers* One with Amelie coming to terms with her role in the end of the world and her being the extinction entity, that other side of her reaching out and to fulfill the role. Then her human side to fight it off and run away to try and explore all it means to be human and saving the human race as best as possible. The giving her everything she's been dreaming of is in reference to her always having apocalyptic dreams. The things in the dark made me think of the BT's. For the Higgs meaning it ties nicely to his lore as he came undone from him DOOMS and feel under Amelie's control and became her puppet.

She started screaming "HELP ME" and "PLEASE COME GET ME" as she ran.she ran quickly to the castle, locked the doors and started looking for her mother.As she did she then realized she literally couldn't find her. Lily started crying, but then the monster broke all the windows and door open. Lily sat down crying on the ground as she looked up seeing the monster near her and very close.Lets just say the monster "got rid of her".

I'm pretty sure this is an allegory for drug addiction.

I think lily is actually mean belief. The song the show that "lily" fall in the dark or have a bad ending. But atcually the demon that corrupt us aka bad thought, force us to accept them. But when we realise that they are wrong and try to free ourselves it came back. And I think the reward was a shortcut to acheive what we want but then it also carry a huge risk and it can't stop halfway. When we realise the truth and wanted to stop it. They came back again and again until we dont' have a choice but to accept and live with them. I think that Lily is about a teenage girl who was born into a rich, high-class family (suggested by the line "grew up in her castle walls") and she is treated very well, causing her to not know how to do much. She wants to know what the outside world is like, but is scared. One day she tries to run away and finds the world frightening. However, her little knowledge of the world causes her to be told to make some poor decisions, forcing her to fall into a hole of debt, depression, and failure. (Thus, the first chorus, representing her being pressured to do bad things.) She realizes she's done everything wrong, and because of it, the stakes are high for her and she can't risk anything. She tries to get help but the wrong people answer her calls for help. They trick her into deepening herself into the pit she's already trapped in (represented by the second chorus). They are hurting her badly when she finally realizes what's happening. She's scared but can't seem to get out. She tries to run home, begging for her family's mercy and help, but they reject her. She's trapped and alone begging to be let back into her old life (hence the last line "just let me in" at the end) and she never does save herself from the "monsters".

I feel that Lily is an average young adult. She has had a trouble trusting and letting people in. She tries to be out going and step out of her comfort zone but it never works. She finally meets this guy who she can open up to. This guy says that he will do and give anything to and for her. He then takes advantage of her and starts taking control of her body (rape). She wants to escape or tell someone but she hears him saying how he will do anything for her. She feels even more trapped then she did before.

This is a love song about someone who was caged by the parents cos they were scared she might make a mistake. She kept trying to get away and when she finally got out and found the love she hoped for, she realized that the parents were right afterall. Lilly can be any of us. Allow us to make our mistakes on time so that we can also learn how to correct them.

I think this is a story about a girl who decided to run away and then she needed somewhere to go. A random stranger let her in (Girl saying "Just let me in"). The stranger was a male pedophile who wanted to um, go in her (i hope you know what i mean lol). The pedophile convinced her it was safe. Then she realized what was going on and that it was wrong. She got scared and ran away. She screamed for help and got lost. That's just what I'm getting from this :P

I think it’s about a little girl, or in this case: Lily, having overprotective parents. When she leaves her house she gets kidnapped, hence the “they warned her, don’t go there, there’s creatures who are hiding in the dark”. When she gets kidnapped she gets raped; hence the “just let me in, ooh~” because ya know, being forced on isn’t the best. The “is someone out there? Please help me” bit is when she escapes years later and asks for help. In my opinion the “walking on cold thin ice” is how she get out of her prison and escapes. In related to some people I know the “afraid of the big, wide world, she grew up in her castle walls” part was how they didn’t want to go outside (like moi) because there afraid of being mugged, held hostage, kidnapped, raped or even killed. Well there’s my meaning/thoughts of the song.

I was thinking this song is saying like a girl is scared of the world, because it's big, and she tries to overcome her fear slowly, first just the woods nearby. Having heard warnings, she is glad to have help and let the creature in. Sadly, letting them in was getting hypnotized. She didn't realize this, though, until it was too late. They already had control. I think then Lily was stuck, unable to free herself. Maybe the shock of cold water, or maybe it was holy water or something, like someone said, but she awoke from her imprisonment. It isn't all that clear if she gets away or not, but most likely she wasn't quite quick enough to get free, and was a slave forever.

My take wasn't quite as dark as some others, and it's mostly just the lyrics fit into something bigger, but I still think mine is possible.

I think the idea of the song is to say think things through before agreeing to something possibly permanent, or something damaging- who knows what the creature was making Lily do? Mostly I just love the song, although I REALLY hope she did not hang herself! That would be so sad.

I think Lily is a song based in the Mideval times and Lily was afraid of going outside of her castle walls because of stories people told her. She hated her family and she was running away or trying to run away every so often. One time her parents mad her so mad that she ran off anyways without thinking about the stories people told her. When authorities went to go and find her, she was gone. Night one was to ever see her again. She was still out there somewhere but no one knew where. Not even herself. But unknowingly, she enters that Enchanted Forest. She feels Kinda scared cuz she is all alone. Suddenly a Creature Approaches her and Cast a magic spell on her. Referring to the line"Follow every where I go - Just let me in". She get hypnotised and starts following it. However when they reached an icey area, The ice under Lily's Foot suddenly breaks and so does the magic spell. When Lily Realises where she is, She Starts Screaming and Runs to save her life and calls for someone to save her but unfortunately, there was no one who could save her. Just then the Creature approaches her and tries to cast a spell on her once again. However it is not cleared if she get Hypnotised/Enchanted by the Creature again.

I personally think the story (song) is about a little curious child named Lily. (That's obvious) Her parents may have heard stories about those woods when they were little. I think that they told at such a young age, that it was traumatizing. So they tried to keep her safe. But as (I'm so sorry) dumb as they are they couldn't realize that a child is always curious. By keeping her away from that place, made her even more curious! So one night she escaped from that "castle",someone (obviously a spirit) found an infant lost in a wood, of course it would take advantage! It was smart enough to know her deepest desires like it said 'Everything you want in gold...' She being an child of course was fooled. The spirit hypnotized her. Then out of the blue, sense came back to her. She screamed but she was alone and plus who knows after how many days she came back to her senses! It could have been a week or two! She was probably deep in the forest! I also think that she is a pure child lost in pure evil! This has always been my favorite song! so my interpretation is different? personally i think the meaning is about a little girl who is "afraid of the big wide world" and her siblings take advantage of that and tell of a creature whom will harm her if she ever went near it. eventually the girl gets fed up with her siblings and try's to run away from home and she ends up in the woods. in the woods she finds a "creature" who wants to help the little girl not be so afraid. the girl has a good time with the "creature" until her family finds her and she relises that the creature was made up.

The song is all about those who are trying to satisfy their needs but they cannot because they have less. So this figure, lily, wants something so bad that she can do anything to satisfy her wants who is later found by this monster ,"devil," literary who promise her riches, fame and all that is good. What was promised her she received but as the time went by 'ice broke' meaning lily became conscius to the fact that it was only using her. So she tries to free herself but fails and 'screams' for help but no one can, her life was now in the hands of the monster who tries to calm her. So thats it. This was according to my imagination. I believe Lily is about a girl who is roughly fifteen. From the lyrics, it sounds like she is a princess that isn't liking her family. She's torn apart between leaving the castle to create her own life, or actually fleeing. There is another story that seems to be a "myth" about a city named Alades. There, a king, known as King Malcolm is cursed from his love-hate friend Aamina. The curse was a love "curse" that causes the kingdom to fall because of Lily's kingdom. After years of trying to deal with this curse, he ends up trying to get Lily. He sends out a fake prince to try to lead her to the kingdom. She ends up traveling to King Malcolm's kingdom where he is wearing a masquerade mask. He tries to hide his identity to see if she wants to fall in love with him, which she does. The lyrics where it says she knew she was hypnotized and walking on cold thin ice, was when she knew her father (the king) was going to kill him for falsely kidnapping her. That creates a war. Lily is probably a really sheltered girl, who's overprotective parents told her all kinds of horror stories about the outside world. When she finally has to leave, she's paranoid, doesn't trust anyone, afraid.

Lily was a shy young girl and was protected from the outside world for all her life. She wanted to be free though and left home. The setting sun is symbolic of the beauty and mystery of life. She left to the woods. The woods are not literal it is a metaphor for something mysterious, Such as the outside world and we know all know that the outside world is mysterious to her. So by the woods they mean society. Her parents warned her not to leave. Creatures hiding in the dark are meant to be the bad people in the world. She met another person. He told her not to worry and follow everywhere I go. either meaning he's kidnapping her or He means it in a romantic relationship kinda way. I think its the romantic relationship though because He then says later in the song," you'll be safe under my control." Witch a abusive partner would possibly say to make them feel comfortable but still being able to slip in the fact that they are superior. He is coming off as a nice guy and she goes along with it because she does know any better because she has not been in the outside world long enough to know the "wrong" crowd from the "good" crowd to be with. nobody knows when they are hypnotized so when that line came up I think it meant she knew she was so obsessed with him it almost felt like she was hypnotized to liking him. She realizes that He was making her obsessed with him in any way because He wanted to stay in the abusive relationship. when the cold thin ice broke meaning the last straw for her. She then ran out looking for help.

I think that Lily's about a girl who is innocent. She's afraid because people told her stories of the scary people out there. She grew up within her boundaries/limits that her guardians set for her (castle walls). She tried to break free of those boundaries at times, and then on the night when her hopes were down (setting sun) she managed to escape and found herself in the wide world. She wanted to go back but she couldn't.

People had warned her before; don't go there, it's not good for you. Then the creatures - human creatures - came creeping up on her, promising her she'd be safe with them. They'd give her everything she had always dreamed of. They would promise that the stories she had been told would change, that some new stories would be tole.

She suddenly realized that they were controlling her, by peer pressure, and she could fall easily in their sights if she made a wrong move. She broke free and ran screaming for someone to help her, but she was all alone. Then she ended up being controlled again and in their clutches.

I think the first verse means that lily is a princess who was told horrid things about the world around her so she is scared to leave the prechorus means that she gets sick of listening to the same things and escapes but then she notices she made a giant mistake then a monster who thinks that he can manipulate her into letting him in the castle approaches (btw he wants to get in so he can take over the kingdom).

The song is about love and the insecurities this woman has.
She built herself "castle walls" to protect herself from getting hurt.
She was probably warned about love from people close to her who had been hurt before.
She met her true love and they could have a wonderful life together if only she was able to trust completely.
But whenever things don't go perfectly she gets scared and runs away.
She needs to learn how to trust in love, even though it's scary, if she wants her magic dream life.

I think it's a rip off from the movie "Let Me in". But for the sake of this song, the victim's (or main protagonist) gender was swapped.

If u watch the movie, the protagonist who was a boy met a beautiful girl and was smitten by her. Everytime she comes to the boy's house she ask the boy to let her in, if not she will suffer and eventually dies. Turns out, the boy gradually found out she is a vampire. But although he knew following her isn't the right thing to do, he decided he didn't care in the end.
