''What are you talking about? America's not gonna be destroyed! ''
''Never? Rome was destroyed, Greece was destroyed, Persia was destroyed. Spain was destroyed. All great countries are destroyed. Why not yours? How much longer do you think your country will last? Forever?''

Block the entrances, close the doors
Seal the exits 'cause this is war
All gave some, some give all
But for what? I wanna know

Carry on, don't mind me.
All I gave was everything!
And yet you ask me for more
Fought your fight, bought your lie
And in return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?

A fallen flag, a purple heart
A family all but torn apart!
And I fought with courage to preserve
Not my way of life but yours!

Carry on, don't mind me.
All I gave was everything!
And yet you ask me for more
Fought your fight, bought your lie
And in return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?

The cowards preach from pedestals
With words like courage and resolve
But what they meant was "fuck 'em all!"
'cause freedom isn't free
they send our daughters and our sons
To deserts under burning suns
A Sacrificial slaughtering
to fill the pockets of the weak
An artificial enemy

Are we so easily deceived?

(They carry on, oh oh oh)

"You're a shameful opportunist. What you don't understand is that it's better to die on your feet then to live on your knees"
"You have it backwards. it's better to live on your feet then to die on your knees"

Don't carry on, just walk away
How many more are sent to their graves?
In this lesson ignored?
I fought your fight, bought your lie
And in return I lost my life
What purpose does this serve?
What purpose did I serve?

I think many people aren't taking this song generally enough. The quote at the start is a quote, it's not exactly relating it to any particular war or any particular country. I think the song describes the general feeling of those who have fought in war, and how they are affected by it. It also touches on the feelings of those whos children are sent to war, and how they feel. I think it's basically criticising the way war veterans and current war participants are treated and seen.

I'm amazed at how he insults common thoughts about war. This song speaks in a way that i wish would be answered, because it has some really good questions.

I think it's about a soldier who gave his life in a war.
He doesn't know why he's fighting or the cause isn't clear/a good one.

We carry on with our lives while thousands of soldiers are fighting for us. They give everything, yet we still ask for more...

They fight to keep freedom of the entire people but are taken for granted...

How many more soldiers will we sacrifice in pointless wars? How many lives will be lost?

I think there's a mistake in the lyrics... It's "an artificial enemy" and not "and official enemy" -which is why they are deceived.

    Great song btw

This song i think is about the guilt of seeing or even hearing about a good friend or brother or sister or mother or father passing away in the way. They are comparing modern war with ancient wars.
