When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
"Son, when you grow up,
Would you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"
He said
"Will you defeat them,
You demons, and all the non believers,
The plans that they have made?
Because one day I'll leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join the black parade."
When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city
To see a marching band.
He said,
"Son, when you grow up,
Would you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?"
Sometimes I get the feeling, she's watching over me
And other times I feel like I should go
And through it all, the rise and fall
The bodies in the streets
And when you're gone we want you all to know
[Chorus]
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it
A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Let's shout it loud and clear
Defiant to the end we hear the call
To carry on [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/my_chemical_romance/welcome_to_the_black_parade.html ]
We'll carry on,
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And though your broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches
On and on we carry through the fears
Oh oh oh
Disappointed faces of your peers
Oh oh oh
Take a look at me 'cause I could not care at all
Do or die
You'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we want to play this part
I won't explain, or say I'm sorry
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar
Give a cheer, for all the broken
Listen here, because it's who we are
I'm just a man; I'm not a hero
Just a boy, who had to sing this song
I'm just a man; I'm not a hero
I
Don't
Care!
We'll carry on
We'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
You'll carry on
And though you're broken and defeated
Your weary widow marches on
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world, will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, (we'll carry on) we wanna play this part
Do or die, (we'll carry on) you'll never make me
Because the world, (we'll carry on) will never take my heart
Go and try, (we'll carry) you'll never break me
We want it all, (we'll carry on) we wanna play this part
If you really listen to this song, beyond all the "it's-an-emo-band" crap, really listen to it. It's not emo. It's stunning. Musical genius is what this is. Inspired, genius, enlightened, whatever you want to call it, that's what this is. You can get so many meanings out of this song. What is the black parade? What is he getting at? And depending on your mood you'll get different meanings, but any way you look at it, it's amazing. Just stunning. There's no set in stone meaning, because it can mean so much to different people, but i bet this helped a lot of people through tough times.
If u make call kids who listen to mcr emo screw you. My chemical romance has beautiful music, their lyrics have strong meanings and the can make they're instruments sing in a gorgeous harmony, i'll never stop listening to these guys and rock on to all the other fans out there
:)
He's saying that nonconformity is ok, and that we all have to 'carry on' in life and not worry about our own demons and outside influences. We are who we are aand people just have to deal with it and shul the #3!! Up.

My meaning to welcome to the black parade is that its about someones father or just someone who has passed on and its saying that their memory will live on.

Mcr is emo, but here it out. Emo- is short for emotional right? And their music just so emotionally driven, in the greatest way possible. So much of their music is uplifting to all of us who consider ourselves broken or useless, and even to those just going through some rough patches. This song especially. Im proud to say mcr is emo. Emotion is 95% of what great music what it is.

It helps me find myself, tells me not to be afraid of what people will say and not to be afraid to be individual, it says you shouldnt conform to what others to, to be yourr self and be happy with who you are!

I think the start of this song is god talking to jesus...
Which makes sense since gerard way is hot enough to be an angel :p
