Goodbye my friend, goodbye my love, you're in my heart
It was preordained that we should part,
And be united by and by, united by and by.
Goodbye no handshake to endure.
Now there's nothing.

It was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh god, written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god, it was written in blood

Let's have no sadness, furrowed brow.
There's nothing new in dying now. [x2]
Though living is no newer... [x2]
And it was written in blood.

It was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god, it was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god!
It was written... in blood
On a suicide note

Like roses, we blossom then die [x3]
Like roses, we've fallen apart [x2]
Like roses, we blossom then die [x3]
Like roses, we've fallen apart [x2]

Though living is no newer [x2]

(It was written in blood on a fucking suicide note, the night before he died)

It was written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
My god, written in blood
It was written in blood
It was written in blood
Oh my god!
It was written... in blood

Like roses, we blossom then die
Like roses, we blossom then die
We've fallen apart (Fallen apart! )
We've fallen apart (Fallen apart! )
Fallen apart
We fall, like roses

Like roses [x2]
Roses... [x2
Like roses... [x2]

I love the sound of breaking bones.

At the end of the song, it says "i love the sound of breaking bones. "
Haha, creepy. But i love it.

    You don't say

But this is an amazing song, i'm hooked, and personally, the meanings everyone has said are right, it's not necessarily what the artist means to convey by the song that makes it good, it's what you take from it

After watching the video of them live in Siberia from the Suicide Season Cut-Up DVD, and hearing them say this song was written about a russian poet, I did a little more research.

This song was written about the russian poet, Sergei Yesenin, who committed suicide. Before he killed himself, he wrote a suicide note to a friend of his, then he hung himself the next day.

The actual note [in russian] says:

До свиданья, друг мой, до свиданья. Милый мой, ты у меня в груди. Предназн&#10 72;ченное расстава&#10 85;ье Обещает встречу впереди.

Д& #1086; свиданья, друг мой, без руки, без слова, Не грусти и не печаль бровей,- В этой жизни умирать не ново, Но и жить, конечно, не новей.

But the english translation(according to wordlingo's translator) says:

To [svidanya], the friend is my, to [svidanya]. Dear my, you in my breast. Intended [rasstavane] promises encounter in front.

To [svidanya], the friend is my, without the hand, without the word, not melancholy and not the grief of eyebrows, in this life to die not newly, but also to live, of course, not virgin soils.

    Which, doesn't make much sense.

Others say the english translation says:

    Good-bye, my friend, good-bye.
My dear one, you are in my breast.
    This predestined parting
    Promises a meeting ahead.

Good-bye, my friend, without hand, without word
No sorrow and no sadness in the brow.
In this life, dying is nothing new,
But living, of course, isn't novel either.

The lyrics from the song itself are a more understandable version of the origional suicide note.

This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.
