Metallica – Nothing Else Matters lyrics
[Verse 1]
So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the Heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

[Verse 2]
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters

[Pre-Chorus]
Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

[Chorus]
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

[Verse 1]
So close no matter how far
It couldn't be much more from the Heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

[Chorus]
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

[Guitar Solo]

[Verse 3]
I never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters

[Pre-Chorus]
Trust I seek and I find in you
Everyday for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

[Chorus]
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know, yeah

[Guitar Solo]

[Outro]
So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the Heart
Forever trusting who we are
No, nothing else matters

The eponymous fifth album from thrash metal icons Metallica (also known as “The Black Album” for its dark cover) marked a huge shift in sound for the band, one which would catapult them into being the biggest band in the world, while arguably diluting the elements that had once made them so vital and influential.
The album debuted at number one on 10 album charts (including 4 weeks at #1 on the Billboard), is certified 16x platinum in America and is the 24th best-selling album of all time (selling more copies than Bad, Nevermind and even Backstreet’s Back or …Baby One More Time). That actually makes it the highest selling album of the last 25 years.
Oh, and it won them their third Grammy in a row.
Produced by Bob Rock, the whole songwriting process and focus of the album changed from previous records. Lyrics were more introspective, songs were shorter, and Lars' drumming was simpler:
When we started using Bob, it was because Bob made all the best rock records that were going on at that time. Everything that was going on in the late eighties was all about Bob Rock.
    - Lars “I killed Napster” Ulrich
    The album produced 5 singles:
    “Enter Sandman”
    “The Unforgiven”
    “Nothing Else Matters”
    “Wherever I May Roam”
    “Sad but True”

My ex and I made this "our" song. We were so close, no matter how far apart we were, and were never far from each other, ever. We didn't live by "their" rules, we lived by our own, and it didn't matter to either of us what anyone else thought or said, what mattered was the "us". Even now, that he is gone, I hear this song, and I cry because it reminds me of those happier times.

    Dear Metallica fans,.
Metal Milita is back with another idea, this time maybe a little bit better than the last one. Here goes, on October 28th (also known as the birthday of Metallica) every fan is asked to go to the Enter Sandman video from Moscow (the first result) watch it and press like. If you hate people like Justin Beiber or Lady Gaga this is the step to take. If enough people visit it will become the most viewed video in the history! Please spread! Thanks!

I'd say this song is about non-conformity. I, myself, am a non-conformist, and I can totally relate to this song. It really makes sense that that's what this song is about. The lyrics say it all. "Never care for what they do." "Never care for what they say." "Never care for games they play." and of course, "Life is ours, we live it our way." The "they" people are the people who take the path or conforming to others' agendas

I don't know, I liked the tune a lot, but after reading carefully the lyrics it became clear for me that he maybe singing a love song, but it could be also a racist song, and to be honest it looks for me much more racist than other thing. After that this music became an idiot tune, from kids to kids. Really disappointing.
