Twenty One Pilots – Truce lyrics

Now the night is coming to an end,
Sun will rise and we will try again.

Stay alive, stay alive for me.
You
will die, now your life is free,
Take pride in what is sure to die.

I will fear the night again,
Oh, I'm not my only friend
.

Stay alive, stay alive for me.
You will die, now your life is free,
Take pride in what is sure to die.

This song is a suicide note. He tried to convince himself to commit but the sun rose before he could. He is telling his lover that he will eventually try again, but he doesn't want her to pitty him; he still wants her to be proud of him. He also knows that once he is gone she will be upset. He is singing for her to stay alive, even when he is gone. One day, he knows, she will die as well, but now she is free of him and his depression. Now she is free. He is now afraid of the night because he knows that is when he is going to leave her, but his depression and anxiety are becoming to much for him to handle. His 'demons' are his friends, and usually demons come out at night.
