Its about a girl who feels numb and disconnected from her life (happy birthday wihout her) so she turns to cutting, which makes her feel better. Of course it becomes an addiction and each time she cuts she gets closer to the "edge" of killing herself. Eventually she gives in. Its a beautiful song. I knew the german version for longer but had no idea what it meant. I love it because its so deep and i can really connect with it.
i believe its ABOUT cutting... -and the happy birthday part i believe it could mean 2 things, one they sang happy birthday without her there, like them not caring enough about her, or 2 it could mean like they sang happy birthday 2 her but she wasnt there emotionally kinda like dead on the inside... /I think it MEANS life is hard and things happen and can make u make bad decissions, do things to urself, etc...

This song is a confusing one... the happy birthday is odd... I'm thinking drugs, bad influences, drinking, and when it goes she shuts the door she longs for more and more, and more... I think that means sex... maybe later rape or something
