I think that this song is about maibe a best friend saying to him thatshe likes him but he dosent feel the same. He dosent want to see her hurt and dosent want to ruin there friendship ( this dosent change the way i feel about you our your place in my life, please dont cry) he is sad that he is making her hurt because of his response and he dosent feel to good eather ( can't you see im dying here, a shot of broken heart that is chased with fear). She is his angel and the star that collide are the words that he said to her.

It's an amazing song that means so much! It can be so relate-able. It's a beautiful song

I beleive this song is about how he's been broken in the past and is now wanting to be with this girl but can't becuz he's still to broken and scared to feel again "a shot of broken heart that is chased with fear" - he's scared to fall for her again and is still broken and when he talks about angels cry when stars collide he means angels cry when soul mates end up crashing and burning in the end ( don't work out).

I think this song was pertaining to the guy who was undergo a depression or something that bothers her... His gurl doesn't understand the situation... And she thought maybe that her guy was up into something!!!

I second joyceaquila on the meaning being dependent upon the person listening. This is what i interpret:

He's going through a depression, and his lover is trying to help. She feels she is doing something wrong, because she can't quite help. He tells her, "this doesn't change the way i feel about you or your place in my life. " he doesn't want his misery to affect her.

My girlfriend contemplated suicide before she met me. She's 19 and her parents are over-bearing and they dislike me because of my religion. They have "nightly" talks with her. When we had to break up, she contemplated suicide again. If it wasn't for her parents, all i've ever wanted wouldn't come with a price. I just want her to "live for me too", live life to the fullest. For me, a couple who broke up despite the fact that they still love each other but were unable to patch things up... And decided to end the relationship.
