Yeah!

I've made my mistakes
I've seen my heart cave in
I got my scars
I've been to hell and back again

Born for the blue skies
We'll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain

We're singing...
Hey, you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
Wait! it's not over now
We've been down but we've never been out
Yeah, we are the dark horses

We found a way out
The city takes everything it can
But outside the crowds
I can feel my lungs again

Born for the blue skies
We'll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain

We're singing...
Hey, you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
Wait! it's not over now
We've been down but we've never been out
Yeah, we are the dark horses

We're singing...
Laa la-la-la-la-lala
Laa la-la-la-la-lala
Yeah!

Born for the blue skies,
Born for the blue skies
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain

We're singing...
Hey! you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
We don't care what they say!
We know we'll find a way!
Yeah, we are the dark horses

Yeah!

Laa la-la-la-la-lala
Laa la-la-la-la-lala

I looked the meaning up, it is actually a cliche: it means an unknown quantity. A person/thing whose qualities are untried.

As a former physically, sexually, and mentally abused person and current dog, cat, and horse rescue , this song got my attention. A woman puts her trust in a man to protect her and her children not hurt them. To have to walk out in public with a purple swollen face and beaten sore body, will teach you humility and liberation. The plight of the mustangs and companion horses these days is scary... So many sent to slaughter and terrorized before being butchered alive. They are taught to trust humans and in the end that trust is not worhy of us. The horses in my care will never see the blood of the trailers and processing floors. I pray a quick death for those sent on and an end to the round ups and slaughter and strength to the women and children to endure until they can be safe.. Its not over now, we've been down but we've never been out, yes, we are the dark horses.
