All we are is Entertainment
Caught up in our own derangement
Tell us what to say and what to do
All we are are pretty faces
Picture perfect bottled rage
Packaged synthesized versions of you

We've all made petty fortunes but we can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream California and it's toppling empire
But can't you see the end is coming soon

Come one come all the new sensation
Garentees then obligates you
Spotlights follow every single move
Basking here on ten foot stages
Pouty lips and oh so jaded
All as if we have something to prove

Despite these petty fortunes we still can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream California and it's toppling empire
But can't you see the end it's here

And if we cared at all about this unknown plight then we'd do something more to finally make this right

Is this only entertainment
Pull the curtains, places please
We've learned to sing and dance and cry on cue
But this is more than entertainment
In a world so sick with pain
This is the only thing that's real or true

We've all made petty fortunes but we can't afford a life
Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms
They all scream bloody-murder over graves already dug
But can't you see the end

telling america to get it head outta its hole. americans think life is nothing but entertainment...i would know i am an american..and no i do not think like that.. rise against is against the destruction of civilizations and forests and stuff like that, and what is our "lovely" country good for? ruining wild lands wasting gas and natural resources, and destroying people that are smaller than us. thats right an american thinks america needs to shape up or ship out. blunt but true

I think it describes the life of a music artist, moreso those that are really popular and everything they do is recorded in newspapers and magazines. Because they have to maintain an image, they can't be themselves as much, like puppets (as the song references a lot- 'All we are is pretty faces', 'Tell us what to say and what to do', 'We've learnt to sing and dance and cry on cue', etc), and I think they are told what to wear, do, even what they say and sing.
I could be wrong of course haha, and not everyone would have that story anyway. I don't think RA have this, but again could be wrong.

America also needs to not focus too much on environmental protection however. When the keystone pipeline is proven not to hurt the environment, will create 20,000 permanent jobs and 118,000 temporary jobs in extending the pipeline and inject billions of dollars into the economy because there is a chance it could be slightly harmful to the environment i call bs.
