She lives in a fairy tale
Somewhere too far for us to find
Forgotten the taste and smell
Of a world that she's left behind

It's all about the exposure, the lens, I told her
The angles are all wrong now
She's ripping wings off of butterflies

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle
Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da

So one day, he found her crying
Coiled up on the dirty ground
Her prince finally came to save her
And the rest she can figure out
But it was a trick
And the clock struck twelve
Well make sure
To build your home brick by boring brick
Or the wolf's gonna blow it down

Keep your feet on the ground
When your head's in the clouds

Well go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle, bury the castle

Go get your shovel
And we'll dig a deep hole
We'll bury the castle, bury the castle, whoa, whoa

Well you built up a world of magic
Because your real life is tragic
Yeah you built up a world of magic

If it's not real
You can't hold it in your hand
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Oh, even in the dark

And that's where I want to be, yeah

Go get your shovel (You'll be better off without me)
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle (ooh), bury the castle
Go get your shovel (You'll be better off without me)
And we'll dig a deep hole
To bury the castle (ooh), bury the castle

Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da
Ba-da ba ba ba-da ba ba
Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da
Ba-da ba ba ba-da ba ba
Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da
Ba-da ba ba ba-da ba ba
Ba-da ba ba-da ba ba-da
Ba-da ba ba ba ba ba ba ba

I love this song! It means how this girl is so far from reality and lives in her own bubble where nothing bad happens. But later in the end, everything comes crashing down on her and she wakes up to find how hard and tough you gotta be to be able to live in this world. So instead of living in castles, you have to live in houses built by brick by boring brick or else someone sooner or later is going to stomp all over you.

if we look at the music video, i think its about how we build up these wonderful dreams to shield us from the harsh realities. the little girl represents hayley's dream self going off to her wonderland and after a while, her world is shattered by the evils of the real world. when she escapes wonderland, she falls into the hole where the real hayley is "burying the castle;" living in reality. she throws the doll in the hole to symbolize she doesn't need dreams anymore, because reality and truth is enough.
what do you think? btw, didn't she look so pretty? (:

I think this song is about a girl who's had far too many tragedies in her life that she's created a "fairytale" world for herself to hide in as a sort of coping mechanism. When she finds this guy, she easily falls in love with him and builds an unrealistic image of him in her head, so as to say he's a "prince" who has come to her rescue. When the "clock strikes twelve" and she realizes that everything she had believed in was entirely based on her constant need to escape, she suffers for it. The line

"Well, make sure to build your home brick by boring brick, or the wolf's gonna blow it down"

is a message that says one should live in solid reality rather than in one's head--"Keep your feet on the ground while your head's in the clouds" says that it's okay to dream or find some sort of peace within what you lie to yourself about from time to time, to help yourself cope with the things you can't handle, as long as you know that it isn't permanent and that you will have to eventually face the world that you've taken a break from.

The lines, "If it's not real, you can't hold it in your hand, you can't feel it with your heart, and I won't believe it. But if it's true, you can see it with your eyes, oh even in the dark..." are stating the difference between what is real to someone, and what is true to someone. Things that are real are concrete and never change, while the truth can vary depending on a person's belief. Especially with emotions such as love, when it is felt, the feeling cannot be deemed to be a lie since it is purely subjective. It's truth solely depends on the person feeling it.

This is about someone, realizing that her lies have caught up to her and that she's had enough. "Bury the castle" essentially means to fix the mess you've made of yourself--to snap back to reality.

@ParamoreChick, I had to create an account just for you. It most definitely IS "angles", since the previous line is talking about the exposure and lens of a camera. Angels, as in the heavenly beings with wings, would not logically fit into the song here, and would only confuse the listeners. A true photographer worries about the angles of his or her photograph, and because of the meaning behind the song, our proverbial "photographer" has the angles all wrong. Savvy?
