I can finally see,
That you're right there beside me,
I am not my own,
For I have been made new
Please don't let me go,
I desperately need you

I am not my own,
For I have been made new
Please don't let me go,
I desperately need you

soul stirring and totally moving. wish it were a much longer song. and yes, it does feel like he's talking to god. can't get enough of it. it is most definitely one of the best songs in 'ocean eyes'.

This song is so short, but so good. It's the deepest song on the whole Ocean Eyes album --- and the most touching. Instead of the strange worlds he describes in most of the song, this is more emotionally set. Perhaps talking to God, or someone he loves.

Adam Young is obviously talking to God in this song. When he says "I am not my own for I have been made new," he is talking about receiving Christ.

definitely shows his religiousness. i was skeptical about the song at first, but now i really like it just like all his others.

I don't know; but i think this is really relevant to new believers. I feel as if the lyrics 'i am not my own, for i have been made new', is just right after you got saved. You are not of this world anymore, you do not live life for yourself anymore, but you live for him. You are his beautiful child. You are dead, but christ is alive in you. (oh what a beautiful thought! ) as for the first two, 'i can finally see, that you're right there beside me', is also around the time when god has opened your eyes and your heart and you receive him, and you know that he has never left you all this time.

'please don't let me go, i desperately need you', is something i feel very often as a christian and no doubt, other believers. We want to cling to god because of the oppression of this world, and we do need him more than anything.

Really, this is just what i think, seeing as adam young is also a christian. I believe this can also be about your lover or whatever, but imho it's a smaller chance of that being true.

(and no, christians are not religious. Thanks. )
