Owl City – Vanilla Twilight lyrics

The stars lean down to kiss you,
And I lie awake and miss you.
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere.
'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly,
But I'll miss your arms around me.
I'd send a postcard to you dear,
'Cause I wish you were here.

I'll watch the night turn light blue.
But it's not the same without you,
Because it takes two to whisper quietly,
The silence isn't so bad,
Till I look at my hands and feel sad,
'Cause the spaces between my fingers
Are right where yours fit perfectly.

I'll find repose in new ways,
Though I haven't slept in two days,
'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone.
But drenched in Vanilla twilight,
I'll sit on the front porch all night,
Waist deep in thought because when I think of you.
I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.
I don't feel so alone.

As many times as I blink I'll think of you... tonight.
I'll think of you tonight.

When violet eyes get brighter,
And heavy wings grow lighter,
I'll taste the sky and feel alive again.
And I'll forget the world that I knew,
But I swear I won't forget you,
Oh if my voice could reach back through the past,
I'd whisper in your ear,
Oh darling I wish you were here.

Right, superstar123, first, you can't spell insomniac and this song does not 'curse' anyone. Seriously, if you wrote a song, what would you write it about? It's not illigal to vent your feelings out through a song. Virtually every song is to do with love, just as this one is. Just because you don't like this song, you don't have to call the people 'tone-deaf toads'. This song is beautiful and so is fireflies. If you don't like it or owl city, why the hell did you look up the lyrics? If you don't like it, too damn bad, because there are people who do.

Superstar123, I am tired of seeing you comment your thoughts on talented bands and stars! Can't you see that you don't have a brain? You are thoughtless! You don't care about anybody but your nasty old mean empty hearted self! Stop being mean! We don't give a cow if you don't like owl city! I don't really listen to them, but I have to give them credit for fireflies! Comment back so I can see what your little lone hearted self has to say! Get your life straight! Divabeat68 is right! If you don't like the song, then too bad! Because you are trying to put us down and make us feel ashamed of liking these people! Owl city is awesome! And they can do anything better than you! They were brave enough to write and sing songs! While you just sit your butt on the computer all day getting on lyricsmode talking about stars! Go get your life straight or something bad will happen to you! And I am only 10 years old and I have more common sense than you do! That is just sad!

I have to admit that this song is really beautiful and meaningful. I love the way the lyrics rhymes throughout every verse describing how deep author's feeling upon the one who passed away. My eyes got misty by this song too :) What a good sad song :))
Well done Adam Young. I am sorry to know that this song is a tribute to your beloved. I am sorry for my belated condolence as I just know "Owl city" from fireflies when it became No. 1 hits here in the uk.
    All the best mate :)
    Cheers,.

I like this song but just like other people I can't always listen to it cuz of my past relationship, and he writes his feelings and sings them out cuz maybe if it sounds like a good song people will listen to him. But you never know what his life is like, people don't always want to listen!
So don't go calling people freak if all he wants you to do is listen :)

This really is one of those songs where you are supposed to put your own sentimental meaning to it. You could see it as him singing to a girl that he misses because she moved away, or even him singing to a girl who lives really far away. But my girlfriend passed away a little while ago, and then I came across this song. To me, it's him singing about someone he really loved, but she is gone. When he says "I'd send you a postcard dear, 'cause I wish you were here", I think he means that he wishes that he could send her a postcard, but he can't because she is dead. Also, he says "Oh if my voice could reach back through the past,.
I'd whisper in your ear". To me that means that he wants to reach back into the past when she was still there and tell her he loves her. You can think of it in a lot of ways, but that's how I see it.
