The song has real meanings to me.
He's singing about how are technology is growing so fast, but he can't believe it. He then uses the "Light" as an example as Thomas Edison who invented the lightbulb.
This song is so tight. I thing there isn't any real meanings to this song. well, i think he was trying to write that this world is full of strange things and that once you cloyur eyes, you miss everything.
Everyone seems to think this song has some secret deep meaning.Honestly I think it's just about fireflies and he is trying to make it catchy and rhyming.Not some girl or his childhood.
