Sister, I'm not much a poet, but a criminal
And you never had a chance,
Love it, or leave it, you can't understand
A pretty face but you do so carry on,
And on,
And on
I wouldn't front the scene if you paid me
I'm just the way that the doctor made me on,
And on,
And on
Love is the red the rose on your coffin door
What's life like bleeding on the floor?
The floor,
The floor
You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/my_chemical_romance/thank_you_for_the_venom.html ]
Preach all you want, but who's gonna save me?
I keep a gun on the book you gave me,
Hallelujah, lock and load
Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpent son,
It aint the mark or the scar that makes you one
And one
And one
And one
You'll never make me leave
I'll wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me ill
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will
(Guitar solo)
You'll never make me leave
I'll wear this on my sleeve
You wanna follow something
Give me a better cause to lead
Just give me what I need
Give me a reason to believe
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will
So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
That make me I'll
You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will
Okay, this is for louberry. I hope you know that (and every true mcr fan knows this) my chemical romance is not an emo band. But, they are an extremely amazing band. I got the limited edition package the other day, and i watched the dvd of when they were live in mexico city and new jersey. Remarkable!!
One view of this song is that it is about missionaries attempting to convert you to their religion. The speaker complains and explains trying to brush off the missionaries since they won't succeed. 'sister, i'm not much a criminal, and you never had a chance, love it or leave it, you can't understand, a pretty face but you do so carry on and on. ' 'preach all you wany but who's gonna save me? I keep a gun on the book you gave me! Hallelujah, lock and load! '
Another view is that it's a dig at a scene politics and the vainer elements of the music scene. This can be heard in the lyrics; 'you'll never make me leave, i'll wear this on my sleeve, you wanna follow something, give me a better cause to lead, just give me what i need, give me a reason to believe... '
I agree with dark shinobi. Lol but i also see the groups nerdiness come out with a harry potter reference: "black is the kiss the touch of the serpent son, it aint the mark or the scar that makes you one" =]
(or maybe thats just my nerdiness lol)
Its about a one of those people that come to your house and try to convert you to a religion. He keeps calling her sister like shes a nun. "i wouldnt front the scene if u made me" fronting that he cares and is understanding and telling her that she (and her organization) are running after something that theyll never kill, theyll never kill evil or convert eveyone to christianity. "black is the kiss the touch of the serpants son its not the mark or the scar that makes you one" saying to the nun that the way he looks has nothing to do with him being evil and the realy obvious part that hes talking to a missionary is when he says "give me a reason to believe" and "dish all you want but who's gunna save me" the book she gave him was a bible cuz u no nuns hand out bibles. "u wanna follow something just give me a better cause to lead" this songs about religion
I love that song. Its the 1st one i really listened to on the album. The power of it just moved me, i welled up. It's like, "dont worry about your shit, just give it to me 2 worry about, just shoot it all at me and ill deal with it, im already fucked up"
they have some amazing ideas, and this song helpd me through alot. I feel like a weight has been lifted whenever i listen to that song. It used to make me cry coz its basically wot my mum said to m wen my grandad died "just unload t all on me, get it out of your system"
mcr really are indestructable, mind you thet do have an army bhind the, literally. (i sohuld know im in it xd)
keep it chemical xx
You'll never make me leave
i'll wear this on my sleeve
give me a reason to believe
For some reason, i don't know why, but i think that might have been added to say that they're not going to stop making music. I only think that because the whole you'll never make me leave lyric is right with i'll wear this on my sleeve. And after the helena video, they had those things they wore on their sleeves a lot, that had mcr written on them.
To me it sounds like they're saying, "look, give me all that crap you've got that will hurt you. I mean, look where you end up with it. And if you want it back, well then lock and load then fire at will, at least i can say i tried. " just my opinion. I love this song. And my chemical romance.
Hmm... Not sure... I like the song though. Louberry's got her ''emo'' music messed up. Mcr isin't an emo band... They rock but they're not emo. (being emo is stupid)
Steph's point is very good, but for some reason whenever i hear this song i think of my own brother. Perhaps it's because the first word of this song is "sister". Or maybe because he has always tried to be a poet but got frustrated around the time he went to jail. "i'm not much a poet, but a criminal... "
xd just my two cents.
