When the lights go out
Will you take me with you
?
And carry all this broken bone
Through six years down in crowded rooms

And highways I call home
Is something I can't know till now
Till you picked me off the ground
With brick in hand, your lip gloss smile
Your scraped up knees and

If you stay
I would even wait all night
Or until my heart explodes
How long?
Until we find our way
In the dark and out of harm
You can run away with me
Anytime you want

Terrified of what I'd be
As a kid from what I've seen

Every single day
When people try
And put the pieces back together
Just to smash them down

Turn my headphones up real loud
I don't think I need them now
'Cause you stop the noise out

If you stay
I would even wait all night
Or until my heart explodes
How long?
Until we find our way
In the dark and out of harm
You can run away with me
Anytime you want

Anytime you want
Anytime you want

Don't walk away (x3)

'Cause if you stay
I would even wait all night
Or until my heart explodes
How long?
Until we find our way
In the dark and out of harm
You can run away with me
And you can write it on your arm
You can run away with me
Anytime you want

In an interview, Gerard says how the producer Rob Caballo told him to get a little more personal and so on. If you look a little bit closer, Gerard and Lindsey met apparently in the early mcr years, correct? He said he had become good friends with Lindsey, and during that time, Gerard was dating Eliza Cuts. After him and Eliza broke it off in early 2007, he and the guys went on the Projekt Revolution headlining with Linkin Park, and msi and a supporting act. That's where he met up with Lindsey again, and they would hang out all the time, later on they dated throughout the tour, and they would write on their arms and body ect. And many of them were meant for each other. One famous one was, "run away with me" - Lindsey, "Anytime you want" - Gerard. The "pick me off the ground," I feel means how Gerard felt horrible after he and Eliza cut off because they were together for years, and once he reconnected with Lindsey, he felt better. "Scrapped up knees," Have you seen Lindsey on stage?! The woman jumps, falls, dives, so on, she is bruised up and scarred all over her legs and arms. "Terrified of what I'd be, as a kid from what I've seen," Gerard said once that he never thought to have make it past thirty, never mind marry and have a kid. Frank also stated that Gerard was "the kind of kid who said he'd never get married and never have kids." "I don't think I need them now, 'cause you stop the noise" Lindsey took up all of his time in a good way. In conclusion, this song was for and about Lindsey Ballato. I hope the best for them and Bandit.

It doesn't even say gerard wrote this even though on a video he was talking about how he wanted to write a meaningful song about his life and so this was about lindsey. The second verse describes how when he was 15 his biggest fear was him thinking he wasn't going to amount to anything or make a difference in this world. So uh what? He definitely at least helped write it.

This song for me means a lot. All of my chemical romance songs hold deep meaning with each one. Summertime for me shows that even though there's people that will push you down over and over again, there's always someone there for you. The lyrics "you can run away with me anytime you want. " for me means you can find your happiness within anything. From music, art, dancing, writing or anything that makes you complete. Run away with your positive emotions. Don't let anyone or anything come between your life to make it harder. Keep fighting your way out of the darkness and harm from yourself or others.

This is a really great stab at a love song, because instead of singing "ooh yeah i love you cos you're all pretty ooh" like those meaningless pop artist s you get, gerard's singing "you can run away with me, we can be whatever we want to be, just as long as we're in love" and it means much more to me than the average love song. Beautiful song which has some great lyrics (particularly the first verse, about bricks and knees and stuff) and might have a deeper meaning about gee meeting lyn-z and realising life is more than the tour. Love it!

I think its about falling in love and then loosing the love you had. Not so much is a physical sense. But like that person was no longer emotionally there. Gerard sings in the chorus: "how long? /until we find our way/in the dark and out of harm/you can run away with me/anytime you want"
I take that to mean that even though things were going down hill, the person whos perspective the song in written in believes that there is still a chance to save what was once there, if they tried.
