When the skin breaks.
He thought time could heal his growing shame.
These white hot knives will turn to fire and they’ll burn.
He cannot heal before he breaks.
He stumbled out of the bedroom.
Feel the shock moving up and down his spine.
He’s running out of the building.
She’s going crazy.
Screaming, asking “Why?”
If you look for a savior to finally be free,
Free from all his failure, that’s all you’ll ever see.
He stumbled into the bathroom, shut the door and fell right to his knees.
He tried to look in the the mirror.
His eyes are bleeding.
He’s asking please. [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/h/haste_the_day/akeldema.html ]
When the skin breaks.
He thought time could heal his growing shame.
These white hot knives will turn to fire and they’ll burn.
He cannot heal before he breaks.
Sounds weakening.
Death sets in as his stomach quickly hits the floor.
The stench of a rotting lie has found it's way to your brain.
It pulls the trigger and opens your eyes to spot the reeking stain.
He thought it would solve all his problems.
He sees now that the blood will never wash away.
Now can’t you hear what he’s saying?
While you’ve been screaming you’ve been drowning the ladder,
So you can float to the top instead of climb.
And I assure you that I’m not the one for you.
When the skin breaks.
He thought time could heal his growing shame.
These white hot knives will turn to fire and they’ll burn.
He cannot heal before he breaks.
"16 brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled which the holy spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of david concerning judas, who served as a guide for those who arrested jesus-- 17 he was one of our number and shared in this ministry. 18(with the reward he got for his wickedness, judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. 19 everyone in jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language akeldama, that is, field of blood. )
"20 'for,' said peter, 'it is written in the book of psalms(69:25), 'may his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,' and, 'may another take his place of leadership(109:8)"
Pretty intense to me. The scripture is referring to the fulfilled prophecy of judas. Psalm 69:28 goes on to say, "28 may they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous. "
The chorus repeats:
He cannot heal before he breaks
And the last verse:
He sees now that the blood will never wash away.
Now can’t you hear what he’s saying?
Judas betrayed the son of god, his one and only sacrifice..
Akeldama is sacred ground.
Blood is symbolic for wicked death
Christ's blood forgiving life
I'm not sure.. Its like the prophecy, to read between the lines
Jesus cannot heal before judas broke?
Basically its talking about how people try to escape through suicide but realize right before the lights go out, that it was the wrong choice to make? Something was bothering him for some time now and he kept it inside into himself, thinking it would go away, but only grew and eventually broke him. And the verses basically are saying the various ways of suicide and how people use it because of desperation.. And if they only sought for guidance, they may have not takin' their life. Anyways, this is just an opinion of what i think its about, hell thats the beauty of song lyrics... There is no right or wrong opinions to songs :)
