Green Day – Are We The Waiting lyrics

Starry nights city lights coming down over me
Skyscrapers and stargazers in my head
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
This dirty town was burning down in my dreams
Lost and found city bound in my dreams

And screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting
And screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting

Forget me nots and second thoughts live in isolation
Heads or tails and fairytales in my mind
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
The rage and love, the story of my life
The Jesus of suburbia is a lie

And screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting
And screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting
And screaming
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown
Are we we are, are we we are the waiting unknown

This is Hazeldountlovesbullet, under my new name. My old account was deleted. To Natli_fox_xx, no my prior meaning was not about the musical, just the album. This post. However, is about this song in the musical. Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy comes after Favorite Son. Tunny has just enlisted in the army and left. Johnny, in his loneliness and depression, begins to listen to his alter ego Jimmy, and starts shooting up heroin, and Will is stuck at home, scared about becoming a father. The next song is Give Me Novacaine.

This song is part of the American Idiot story. Its the fifth installment, right after Boulevard of Broken Dreams, and before Saint Jimmy.
In Boulevard of Broken Dreams, the Jesus of Suburbia realizes he can't make it on his own (and he's really badly hung over). In Are We the Waiting, Jesus is basically on his knees and screaming at the sky, asking why he has to be the s***w up, why life seems to hate him. The story continues in Saint Jimmy.
