I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me to me and I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
When the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh-Ah
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah
I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone
Read between the lines of what's
Fucked up and everything's all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I'll walk alone...
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah
Ahhh-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of broken dreams
When the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...
My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I'll walk alone
In the context of the album, I wouldn't be able to comment, since BoBD is the one I've payed the most attention to.
Alot of the posters here keep bringing 'loss' into it, but, there's not one thing in there that suggests that the character speaking has ever had what he's looking for.
Look at it from the perspective of a youth who has had absolutely experience of a romantic relationship.
'The only road I've ever known' - EVER KNOWN. Never having known any other way, but longing nonetheless, as we all do.
The reference to no one walking beside them could refer to friends, but with that's not fitting with the overall theme of the song and in the next line the 'shallow heart' is refered to, leading me to believe that it is of course love that the character wants, as if it was not obvious.
And there is that feeling of desperation, where you feel like you'll never find the person you need, when you 'wish someone'll find' you, but, 'Till then'...
It's funny sometimes I wake up early in the morings and i always turn on the radio (bad habit).Anyway, alll the time I put it on this song plays!!Werid!!But i love this song so really it doesen't matter.
Good guitar entry green day are really really awsome!
