Green Day – Homecoming lyrics
[Part 1: The death of St. Jimmy]

My heart is beating from me
I am standing all alone
Please call me only if you are coming home
Waste another year flies by
Waste a night or two
You taught me how to live
In the streets of shame
Where you've lost your dreams in the rain
There's no signs of hope
The stems and seeds of the last of the dope
There's a glow of light
The St. Jimmy is the spark in the night
Bearing gifts and trust
The fixture in the city of lust
What the hell's your name?
What's your pleasure and what's your pain?
Do you dream to much?
Do you think what you need is a crutch?
In the crowd of pain. St. Jimmy comes without any shame
He says "we're fucked up"
But we're not the same
And mom and dad are the ones you can blame

Jimmy died today

He blew his brains out into the bay
In the state of mind it's my own private suicide

[Part 2: East 12th St.]

Well nobody cares
Well nobody cares
Does anyone care if nobody cares?
[x2]

Jesus filling out paperwork now
At the facility on east 12th st.
He's not listening to a word now
He's in his own world
And he's daydreaming

He'd rather be doing something else now,
Like cigarettes and coffee with the underbelly,
His life's on the line with anxiety now,
And she had enough,
And he had plenty

Somebody get me out of here
Anybody get me out of here
Somebody get me out of here
Get me the fuck right out of here

So far away
I don't want to stay
Get me out of here right now
I just wanna be free
Is there a possibility?
Get me out of here right now
This life like dream ain't for me

[Part 3: Nobody likes you!]

I fell asleep while watching spike tv
After 10 cups of coffee
And you're still not here
Dreaming of a song
But something went wrong
But I can't tell anyone
'Cause no one's here
Left me here alone
And I should have stayed home
After 10 cups of coffee I'm thinking
(where'd you go?)
Nobody likes you, everyone left you
(where'd you go?)
They're all out without you havin' fun
(where'd you go?)
Everyone left you, nobody likes you
(where'd you go?)
They're all out without you havin' fun
(where'd you go.. Go.. Go.. Go..)

Geeze... Ha..

[Part 4: Rock and roll girlfriend]
[written and sung by Tre Cool]

I got a rock and roll band
I got a rock and roll life
I got a rock and roll girlfriend
And another ex-wife
I got a rock and roll house
I got a rock and roll car
I play the shit out the drums
And I can play the guitar
I got a kid in New York
I got a kid in the bay
I haven't drank or smoked nothin'
In over 22 days
So get off my case
Off of my case
Off of my case!

[Part 5: We're coming home again]

Here they come marching down the street
Like a desperation murmur of a heart beat
Coming back from the edge of town
Underneath their feet
The time has come and it going nowhere
Nobody ever said that life was fair now
Go-carts and guns are treasures they will bear
In the summer heat
The world is spinning
Around and around
Out of control again
From the 7-11 to the fear of breaking down
To send my love a letterbomb
And visit me in hell
We're the ones going

Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again

I started fuckin' running
As soon as my feet touched the ground
We're back in the Barrio
But to you and me, that's jingle town

Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again
Home
We're coming home again

Nobody likes you
Everyone left you
They're all out without you havin' fun

I believe part 1 simply explains, some of the best people have the worst lives "There's a glow of light, the St. Jimmy is the spark in the night" St. Jimmy is the person who helped save who ever that part of the song is referring too. BUT, "Jimmy died today, he blew his brains out into the bay" He just couldn't keep up with all the crap and troubles so much that just overloaded and shut down (in this case... Suicide) part 2, (flash back in Jimmys life before suicide) I think that this is St. Jimmy as a younger man dreaming of what he could be and what he wants in his lifetime, obviously it didn't happen, but in the process in saving the one(s) in part 1 he lived his dreams in a third person kind of perspective.part 3, This is Jimmy in a point where he has been betrayed and forgotten by his group of "friends" now he is so angry, and absolutely depressed, it may have inspired him to help the weak (part 1) Part 4, Jimmy is living the life in his own sense as best he can, it seems he enjoys it, that's simply it. Part 5, Jimmy may miss his old life a little bit, so he tries to go back but it doesn't work from all the fame he has acquired and it may have hurt him in a way. So he can just remember and use his imagination to get back to his past, this hurts him more. The ending of the so his the end of his life, remembering the pains and regret from so long ago pushes him to his breaking point and he ends it (part 1) it's a good song if you listen to it a lot, but sad.

"Holiday" is the second to last song on "American Idiot". Like "Jesus of Suburbia", it is split into different parts.

    1. The death of St. Jimmy: St. Jimmy is an alter-ego that is basically everything JOS wants to be. A sex machine, drug dealer, and much more, after JOS's harsh breakup with his girlfriend, Whatsername, he realizes his days are cornered, and decides to get off drugs because they are ruining his life, thus leading to the metaphorical suicide of St. Jimmy.
    2. East 12th Street: Jesus has gotten off of drugs and is now working in a real office, living a real life. However, this life is horrible, and is simply being told by other people. They state he'd just rather be doing other things, but in reality...
    3. Nobody likes you!: JOS hates his life. He wants Whatsername back, and has waiting so long, he's so desperate, but she never came back. After trying all this, he actually forgets her name, and is forced to call her Whatsername. Repeating the words she said on her letter to him, he wants to die.
    4. Rock and Roll Life: Whatsername now has a better boyfriend, a rock and roll dude who plays the drums, guitar, and doesn't smoke as much. he tells JOS to stop worrying about Whatsername, cause she is now with who she belongs with.
    5. Homecoming: After battling with his rage and love, JOS is returning to Jingletown, the place he once called home but left, looking for a better place. He walked on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams. He met a rebel. He made St. Jimmy kill himself. He had novocaine given to himself, but most importantly: he realized that no matter how good it seems life can get, there's no way to know how people could change it. JOS is where he belongs. And even though no one likes him, he'll just have to live this way.
