I think this song means that Lacey-or anyone in general-, have been through many dark times in their lives and have done things in this dark period, and the dark exposes us to it all. I also thinks it means everyone has to deal with it all, even though it might scare us and might ask someone-in Lacey's view, God or Jesus- for help.
