Close your eyes little girl
You're a princess now
You own this world
Twirling in your twirly dress
You're the loveliest far above the rest
You build your castles in the sky
Stars reflecting off your eyes
And angels sing on silver clouds
And no one cries, screams, or shouts'
Oh, set apart this dream
Oh, set apart this dream for me
Set apart this dream for me [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/f/flyleaf/set_apart_this_dream.html ]
Close your eyes pretty girl
Cause it's easier when you brace yourself
Set your thoughts on a world far off
Where we only cry from joy
Oh, set apart this dream
Oh, set apart this dream for me
Set apart this dream for me
Oh, lovely and beautiful
Precious and priceless
You're so much more than you know
Heart of the purest gold
Pure clean and white as snow
Clothed in such splendor
Oh, what a beauty for me.
(Set apart this dream) x2
Oh, set apart this dream (set apart this dream)
Oh, set apart this dream for me (set apart this dream)
Set apart this dream for me
In the album cover lacey states what every song means to her and why she wrote it or what who she wrote the song about. On this particular song...
"remembering my days in the dread army gives me such an urgency to keep her from joining them. I think often about when she was a baby. Every night i would tell her hat she was beautiful and precious. I wanted to make sure she knew that she was worth more than anything in the world. I would tell her about the king of the passerby army and that he ruled everything, including her. I would tell her that since he was the king and father to all, that she is a true princess. I used to dream of her growing into a beautiful, wise woman that would change the world. I used to pray over her, pleading for her to be spared from the things that every other man and woman in our family had to go through. However, with all the potential that our world gives us to freely love, we also must face the risk that our free will gives us the potential to freely hate. My worst fears were realized when we found that she had been abused by a man who used his free will to try and destroy her. Her desire to join the dread army was simply the result of her having been hurt in the most unjust way possible. So my prayer for her as a baby was the same one that i prayed for her tonight, to set apart this dream. "
I feel that this song is about the innocence that we've all had and the promise that god gave us that there is a world he has made for us beyond this one where no one dies or cries
