I think that its trying to say that he is living in sin, where he saids he so far down, he means that he's buried in sin. He took the wrong road (hell's highway) in stead of the ladder of heaven...

It's not a boyfriend girlfriend thing... Creed is a christian band... It's talkin about his relationship with god. Cause it says "somewhere in his grace i cried out heaven save me. " it has nothing to do with his girlfriend...

I think its about he is depressed/going through a tough time and now he sees different opportunities to commit suicide and instead of being scared of the circumstances, he considers it to be a way out. A way to escape the pain. Basically a cry for help.

All you have to do is take a look at the lyrics and think bout it,"hold me now i'm six feet from the edge and im thinking maybe six feet aint so far down" personally if you think bout it even an infant call tell this song is basically bout a depressed guy who is thinking bout suicide so he doesnt have to deal with the fact that his girl friend left him

I think its about a couple that always had their "i cant live without u" moments like every couple, then he got sidetracked with other things and like pushed her aside. Then they get into a big argument and she runs out and he runs after her... She runs across the street she gets hit by a car and he's put in shock. He runs to her screaming and crying over her body. The ambulance comes takes her away... He goes to the hospital and gets the news that she's dead. And he feels like part of him has died. When he returns to his apartment everything thats there reminds him of her, so where he just cant take it anymore he starts thinking about taking his own life. Then a knock at the door. He opens it and his eyes get wide with shock that its her. At the end of the song it says "please come now i think i'm falling, i'm holding on to all i think is safe" is where he hugs her really tight hoping she wont slip away again.
