True love, he's reminiscing about the love he had with this person, she made him feel alive, the world was a better place with her in his life.. but now she's gone this world can no longer hold his interest. Strawberry swing is a place they would go to spend time together when the weather was good, it was a special place... but it would just be a 'waste of time' to visit it again without her there.
'miles away' means he's not in the present, he is so engrossed in his memories the weather has no effect on him, it could be sunny or raining; he doesn't 'mind' either way.. because in his mind, he's living the 'perfect day'. the 'cold water' refers to rain.
That's my take on it anyways.. the emotion in this song, the whole album is simply amazing!
how that they once sat at this beautiful place now things are going in different ways and sometimes the day can be wasted on old memories but he will be better. with or without you.
Its jus plain and simple, he was in love and when they went their own ways, he thinks abt the gud times he had with her and writes to her that Now the sky could be blue
