They were sitting
They were sitting
In the strawberry swing
Every moment was so precious
They were sitting
They were talking
In the strawberry swing
Everybody was for fighting
Wouldn't wanna waste a thing
Cold, cold water
Bring me round
Now my feet
Won't touch the ground
Cold, cold water
What ya say?
It's such
It's such a perfect day
It's such a perfect day [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/coldplay/strawberry_swing.html ]
I remember
We were walking up
To strawberry swing
I can't wait 'til the morning
Wouldn't wanna change a thing
People leaving all the time
Inside
A perfectly straight line
Don't you wanna curve away
It's such
It's such a perfect day
It's such a perfect day
Now the sky could be blue
I don't mind
Without you
It's a waste of time
Could be blue
I don't mind
Without you
It's a waste of time
Could be blue
Could be grey
Without you
I'm just miles away
Could be blue
I don't mind
Without you
It's a waste of time

We can't be truly happy alone, if we can't share the happiness and happy moments with someone. To me this song is about hope & happiness and living in a moment.
Could be blue, could be grey, without you, i'm just miles away

Our experiences are not dictated by where we are or what we do, yet rather who we spend it with.
I feel that the strawberry swing is a place where a couple he looks up to once went, and he believes going there with his loved one could be what fixes everything and makes it perfect, no matter what the weather. He has no reason to go there without her, because it's a place to make love flawless.
Its a song about the summer, hence why in the background of the music video at one part the poster says "summer" and another says "love" it isnt about a love lost, its about a love that has become.
Yes. I guess it depends. Most people think this is an upbeat song, which parts of it may be, but to me there is a deep, deep sadness to the song. Hence the repetition of the without you stanzas. And all the "happy" parts start out in the past tense, then become present tense as he slips into the memory of what used to be. I guess your interpretation depends on your own situation and it can mean different things to different people.
True love, he's reminiscing about the love he had with this person, she made him feel alive, the world was a better place with her in his life.. But now she's gone this world can no longer hold his interest. Strawberry swing is a place they would go to spend time together when the weather was good, it was a special place... But it would just be a 'waste of time' to visit it again without her there. 'miles away' means he's not in the present, he is so engrossed in his memories the weather has no effect on him, it could be sunny or raining; he doesn't 'mind' either way.. Because in his mind, he's living the 'perfect day'. The 'cold water' refers to rain.
That's my take on it anyways.. The emotion in this song, the whole album is simply amazing!
How that they once sat at this beautiful place now things are going in different ways and sometimes the day can be wasted on old memories but he will be better. With or without you.
Its jus plain and simple, he was in love and when they went their own ways, he thinks abt the gud times he had with her and writes to her that now the sky could be blue
i don't mind
without you
it's a waste of time
And
Could be blue
could be grey
without you
i'm just miles away.
