When it started we had high hopes
Now my back's on the line
My back's on the ropes
When it started we were alright
But night makes a fool of us in the daylight
Yeah we were dying of frustration
Saying "Lord lead me not into temptation"
But it's not easy when she turns you on
Since they've gone
If you'll only, if you'll only say yes
Whether you will's anybody's guess [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/c/coldplay/yes.html ]
God only, God knows I'm trying my best
But I'm just so tired of this loneliness
So, up they picked me by the big toe
I was held from the rooftop then they let go
There's only screaming
Let the windows down
As I come to the ground
If you'll only, if you'll only say yes
Whether you will's anybody's guess
God only, God knows she won't let me rest
But I'm just so tired of this loneliness
I've become so tired of this loneliness
I love this song for its lyrics and most for the music part and not the singing. I think this song is about a army and a man (singingg) is married and then he is seeing other women and gettting tempted. The army is losing and his will is getting weaker to stay faithful. Well i love the song any way.
This is so creepy and dark. Its the kindda song that you just have to listen to and like because of the wierdness of it. I love it!!! And the violens are awesome in it too:)
My link broke: http://www.angelique-hartigan-artist.co.uk/new-contemporary- artwork-se19.aspx - i painted this whilst listening to the album and the bit about night makes a fool of us in daylight stood out.
Quit quoting the bible, maybe he wrote the song cause he was pissed off that god keeps leading us into these temptations and telling us not to sucumb to them while all the natural insticts he gives us tells us to.
Could be - how deep do you think this is? As with all my other comments i posted - i truly believe this album is for henry viii reign -
he and anne boelyn = their relationship - he had to choose to separate from the catholic church in order to have his marriage to queen catherine annuled and then marry anne- she would not sleep with him until. And he swore himself to her - he would not have a mistress and sent queen catherine away while all this went on. And queen catherine was aunt to the emperor so england was hanging on by the 'big toe' and going to have alot of problems if all this happened.
