A unsupported relationship, "trying" but "failing"

This song seems to be about a relationship that is unhealthy not just for the protagonist of the song, but the other partner as well. The first stanza quite vividly describes the protagonist's feelings, mostly psychologically insecure and hurting. The second stanza reveals that the person feels he is being tormented by their partner and that she may even be feeding off of his anguish.
"is nothing else important?
Does my mind mean more to you? "
In the chorus he explains to his lover that the relationship is failing and that they shouldn't and cannot be together any more.
"the tank is empty, let it dry
I'm suffering. "
'the empty tank' quite simply meaning their relationship (and feelings for each other) has run its course. 'letting it dry' can be seen as him simply telling her to let the relationship go.
Lastly, the protagonist comes to a realisation that his partner isn't tormenting him or feeding off of his pain in any way. He acknowledges that the now empty relationship is killing both of them, not just him. The venomous partnership is poisoning both of them and turning them 'evil'.

The protagonist now simply wants both of them to be apart in order for them to become better people.

This reminds me of a previous relationship i had, where the person i was with held grudges, and hatred toward me. It eventually drove me crazy, to the point where i believed it. I felt that if i just gave in and admitted to her that i was evil, that she would stop punishing me for it.

That's what this song means to me. It brings me back to the psychological abuse that person put me through, and how i reacted.

This song was writtn about when matt was in hospital with throat problems after the poison tour. He had throat poblems and couldn't talk so he wrote the song at the time he was going threw hard times with haters and his family and girlfriend
