The meaning of this song should be obvious. It's not about hoping you die or going to heaven.
It's about not fitting in and hoping to find a point in your life where everything comes together or place where you will be accepted amongst your peers.
The "city that endures" is yourself. The hope in your heart ("filled with songs of forever") is the one thing that remains when all around you changes. You are the "city" you take with you as you travel through life.
The "land I've been longing for" is the time of your life when it all comes together. Job, family, home, realtionships. Whatever it is you feel you are missing.

Ahahahahha "does the energizer". Waterlily40 is right btw, please change it. Because I love this song. And I'd hate it if it stayed wrong. ;(
I love how she used 'pirate bones' to show that we always see a bones and not care who the hell it is. Just shoes how meaningless it all seems when we die.
