Here is to poor insight and judgment--two human qualities that we all seem to repulse over the course of a lifetime. Rob tossed in the line about Sisyphus and the eternal hell of repeating the same acts that results in emotional disaster. Who is the snake charmer? Could it be an internal character the becomes externally channeled through other people and situations? In other words, is the snake charmer of human heartache simply our own unique and individual propensity for self-destruction? In that case, do we (that evil internal snake charmer) laugh at ourselves when we experience disaster with that small snake charming voice pointing to the obvious looming doom that we somehow are blinded to?

The opening tune and bass line had been in my he for along time with the theme of humans never really evolving out of the sea but still housing apathy seemingly without intent. Sometimes we love and sometimes we simply don't care as if we never really choose our loves. Of course this is inconvenient to those who love us without any loveback. There are few things as emotionally drowning as disappointment and unrequited love. That want seems simple enough and we might even beg for a fraudulent love knowing full well it will be insincere but we can't see life without that person.

I had stopped listening to music a good 3 months to avoid stealing other phrasings. One day at work I was talking with a person I work with who is from Brasil and remembered a movie about a great samba musician. So for 3 solid weeks I only listened to samba. On a spring day drive from McMinnville to Salem Oregon with the top off my 996, the phrase, "lavender eyes" popped up and I had a couple of idiot jazz chords lying about--and pooph. The best line is "lick the silk twilight off your eyes. . . " Although sea gulls screaming because their lovers have sand on their thighs is pretty fun too!
