Thos song is about an auction where men are being bought. The song introduces five men total (as indicated by being sung by different band members), counting on for every verse and the final man who shing in the bridge and promises to always be there for you. The song starts of with humming, possibly of the buyers, and in the chorus the auctioneer is singing. Their singing signifies that none of the ladies are intrested in the men already listed, and the outro signifies that the final man is desired by everyone, and he sold. The song almost even has its own lore implications when the third verse man says that he's been at these auctions repeatedly. These men also seem to want to be bought, which makes me think this is just used to represent the dating game. This is also implied in the outro, when they say the date's never great, or this is a society where the auction is an option to avoid dating. Overall it shows how a good man (in terms of relationships and dating) is somewhat rare now and are really desire. No that the other men aren't good, but due to their situations, nature, or them not understanding what a woman wants in a man, they aren't desirable.

I agree with the people above, I feel like the different sections of the song (with the different singers) are different sides to his personality that he presents to these wealthy women. He is selling himself, basically, to these women, and therefore appeals to their different wants in a man. For example, the first part, he is a scruffy poor man but has a good heart and will love you unconditionally, the second part depicts him as being a steadfast and hard worker that will fight for you and be as devoted as a dog, the third section he is shown as a traveler who is experienced with women(ie. he makes them fall in love with him, and then abruptly leaves her broken hearted) I believe this to be his "true self". The fourth option shows the more scholarly side of him, even pretending to be from nobility or even apart of the aristocracy (evidence from "graduated at the top" and "i like to take advantage of the bourgeoisie" and "fantasy of being a queen"), this definitely would benefit his pockets if he presented this way to extremely wealthy women. The fifth and final part is a good hearted man who will be the perfect man, which I believe he bases all of his different sides on, or at least they all have an element to it. These are just my thoughts on this lovely song, please feel free to correct me or put your comment/thoughts as well!

I really like this song and I found it recently. I imagine it is about a man that only dates women for money, and his life is overall pretty twisted ("spending every dollar at the liquor shop" ex). Though, he does have a villian-sort of character and he seems pretty happy and optimistic about his life.

this song means a guy is poor probaly at or just above poverty line and he is a guy who dates alot of wemon so he tryes to get more ladys to date to give him money and love so hes probaly a girl money fantic so this is what the lyrics mean to me.
