Martina McBride – Concrete Angel lyrics
She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holding back;
Wearing the same dress she wore yesterday,
She hides the bruises with linen and lace
Oh

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask,
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask;
Bearing the burden of a secret storm,
Sometimes she wishes she was never born
;

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved
.

Concrete Angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night,
The neighbors hear but they turn out the light
;
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate,
When morning comes it will be too late
.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above
;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

Concrete Angel

A statue stands in a shaded place,
An angel girl with an upturned face;
Her name is written on a polished rock,
A broken heart that the world forgot
.

Through the wind and the rain,
She stands hard as a stone in a world that she can't rise above;
But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she's loved.

    I have had a hard life. But recently had the worst struggles of all. I was abused in just about every way possible besides rape when I was young, for yrs & yrs. By my dads best friend. (Its usually someone either in or close to the family for all you parents needing baby sitters!) & I now am in an abusive relationship. I guess its a vicious cycle. This is the song I listened to when I recently went thru hard very hhard times. Literally put it on repeat n listened to it a million times. It gave me a sense of calm I guess. I literally either tear up orstraight up cry every single time I hear it, there couldn't have been a better person to sing it either.
    I should say if you get abused get help right now! Why wait ur only hurting urself. But its not like it will make a diff. Ur usually to scared of them either hurting you or loved ones. Or you don't wanna get thm in trouble. Or ur scared that you will get in trouble. They make you feel like that on purpose. Its not ok! Anything that makes you ncomfortable or unhappy is not ok. Atleast talk to a counselor or something. It will all be ok, & you will save urself alot of hurt n pain.

    I love this song. It struck deep in my soul. I nearly cry when I hear it, and I sing it all the time, I have it memorized. Abuse of any kind is wrong, just utterly wrong, and those who die from physical abuse deserve a high place in the heavens for trying to survive through it. Because they truly are angels in this world, whether they choose to act like it or not. I'm a survivor of emotional abuse myself, and when I heard this song it brought a lot of memories that I never really wanterd to think about again. But it's helped me.

    :( this is really sad. Child abuse is wrong and more innocent kids die eachyear. It always makes me cry when commercials come on about that stuff. Whether it's animals or kids I hate it and I wish it could stop. This is kind of personal. But I wish Obama lost because he's 4 abortion and that's kind of like abuse. What kind of sick and twisted world do we live in? :(

    It's a song about a little girl that is abused by her mother, and she tries to hide it. But, despite her pain and the despair she has a place that she goes for happiness. There's one night that veryone can here her screams and can guess what is happening, but they pay no mind and turn their thought and eyes away. The night that the girl is killed. It ends on a note that makes you happier, though because it mentions that there is a gravestone where there shouldn't be, but that she's still happy.

    To Getajob: child abuse and abortion are two polar opposites. What if someone was to abort their child that they may have never wanted because they know that stuff like this will happen to their child if its born. Abortion isn't always murder. It can be mercy, too.
    And this song is beautiful and I came the closest I have ever come to crying over a song when I heard it. No child deserves abuse, and I don't see how anyone can see a little face staring up at them and then beat on them like that. Or anyone, for that matter. It just goes to show that humans can be violent and careless sometimes. We need more ghandis and gutamas in the world.

    The theme of this song is that you never even know what is happening to a person until it is too late. In this song a little girl has a very bad home life but she never tells anyone. She takes care of herself and packs her own lunches because her mother doesn't care enough to do it for her when she isn't beating her. She as to wear the same clothes in a road because she wants to hide the bruises from the nights before. Even as the teacher notices she doesn't ask but the girl never tells anyone so she can't ever get the help she needs. The pain she feels is kept hidden and she wishes she wasn't born so she doesn't have to bear the pain. The girl is the stone that gets hit with rain or the abuse but she can't get free of it. Her dream is to get free of all the pain and become loved. Yet again someone else notices but choses to not say anything, but this time it is too late; the girl dies from the mother's abuse. Finally she escapes so she can feel loved and on earth she still feels forgotten, which still causes heartache and pain.

    I was so lucky to have a bright young full of energy kid on my facebook she soon asked if I would be her mom. I was so happy but she had so many people who bullied her every single day she was a broken soul. Her own mom and dad committed suicide 2 years ago. And the pressure of bullying at school, her aunts and uncles blamed her for her parents suicide. It was awful to shinju. My lost concrete angel I will always miss you god rest your weary soul. Peace to you: :)

    I always think of all the hurt and sad and helpless little children out there. I wish I could do something for these children. But I know that there are many people out there such as teachers and people who are supposed to improve the lives of children that let all the brutal stuff go by and when the children need them the most they aren't there to help. My mom and I are always talking about these cases. It really does kill me to think that these little innocent children are being hit, kicked, or even worse each day. And people just let it happen.

    Hi this is rebecca and I want to say that it was wrong for what that mom did to her plus she was drunk well that's what think I might be wrong. When I was very little I was abuse by my stepdad and my grandparents but I won't tell you where I live but there's one thing I know that children should be loved and cared and not get abuse from their parents. That was very wrong for what she did to her that night when the girl was talking to her friend across from her house. Sometimes we don't have a perfact life we just be greatful that god is with us and will never leave us by our side forever and ever. How can someone be mean like to that little girl and if someone don't like kids they should put it up for adoption for it.
