Justin Timberlake – Hallelujah lyrics

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew her
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

In the first stanza, it talks about davids / believers faith in god, uncompromised by earthly, blissful and thriving in the hope of eternity and living just to please the lord.
In the second stanza, comes temptations, succumbing to the beauty of a woman / riches/greed which you know is not for you. These temptations tie you to a position you cannot imagine when you are with god, lower one where you slowly lose what you gained in a moment of pleasure. The hallelujah meant for god almighty is in vain. Its not for him, but in praise of what you enjoyed.
The third stanza is the beginning of regret, self question, realization, asking people not to judge the crime committed which was forgetting god and changing of priorities. But still a belief that god will see the light in his words returning, love is not a victory march, realization of this and the hallelujah of a broken heart is still acceptable to god. So hes just telling people not to judge or care what they heard, in the end in matters what god hears. Finally, confession and asking of forgiveness with a hallelujah of praise and wisdom of understanding.
