In verse 1, it tells us that he likes a girl that he is dreaming(dream girl) but then that girl left her. On the 2nd verse he is telling us that he is afraid to fly, to go to heaven. The airplane is like the transportation going to heaven. Hence he is not dying yet so he woke up.
Chorus is like the girl died and he wants to be with him. Forever is eternity for him.
