    He feels like when he comes home its not the same and he needs time to himself now hence "i got to get it together". The feeling I also get from this is that hes tried to mend whatever isn't the same. Its either his friends or family, maybe both. He wishes things were the same. When he came back everyone basically just cared about themselves and their own issues. He see's what really happened and who people really are. Like their true colors came out. He trusted untrustworthy people and they betrayed him - "i had the greatest faith in fools,
    I turn my back and out came the wolves! "
    whats happening what supposed to happen. Meaning he thought nothing would change and no one would change. At the end he's hoping everything will be okay and wants to go back to the way it used to be. -mmv.

    Another error: "but every time i come home *someone i need isn't there. *" you guys seriously butchered the first verse. (maybe it's "some part of me isn't there," but that makes less sense. Either way, there's obviously a syllable missing from the posted lyrics.)
    Anyways, I love the song. I think while it mentions family a lot, it's talking about his life in general. He uses "we" and "us" in the chorus, so he obviously isn't completely alone. I don't want to analyze too deeply because I don't think songs are usually that specific.
