I think Koe is talking about the band Cross Canadian Ragweed which is now Cody Canada and The Departed. They hailed from Oklahoma and are marked as one of the pioneers of Texas Red Dirt Music genre.
Funny thing is he is experiencing some very similar public response as Cross Canadian Ragweed did back in the day.
I believe Koe has had a very conflicting year full of love, dread, and hate and it comes through in the writing of this album. It is truly one of the best listens, I am so proud of them and all the hard work put into a full album release without dropping singles along the way.

I thought he was saying he misses texas. Texas is known for the ragweed season. To me it sounded like they were in OK and she was trying to convince him that it was better but deep down they both missed everything in texas including the dreaded ragweed.
Of course this is my interpretation but it was the vibe I got from the entire song. Like he loved her and followed her but they are home sick. They had to get away from her family who hated him. Maybe I'm looking too deeply into it.

In that line that most people don’t know what he’s saying, the line after her second stepdad, he says that “she’s kind of weird and a full time goof” eluding to why “it’s so hard not to love her”, but now that I’ve listened to the album AFTER reading the other regardings on this page, I agree. I DO think he’s talking about the ragweed season in Texas. At first I thought he was talking about Cody Canada and his bad, Cross Canadian Ragweed, as they disbanded years ago, hence to why they would both miss it. But since he added the part about Oklahoma, I do think he’s referring to our ragweed season here in the Lone Star.
