Jack Stauber – Coffee lyrics
[Verse 1]
Do I need it?
Mocha
Am I under control?
Can I beat it
?
Wake up
If it swallowed me whole
Would I see it
?

[Verse 2]
I can make you feel alive
I know, but do I need you to survive
? (ha ha ha)
Just a sip!
Does it still matter which one?
Just a drip
!
Am I dumbfounded when I slip?

[Bridge]
You can't believe
I can't believe
You can't believe
I can't believe
You can't believe
I can't believe this happened
Wow
!

[Verse 3]
French vanilla
I think I should sit this one out
No no no
Maybe a cup of self control
Would be the route

[Outro]
But it's the flavor
It's the flavor you want!
Maybe so but it feels better to check than to reflect, oh
×

The man just likes his coffee.
-> I need to have a minimum of 50 words to post this so just ignore this last part as I try to type the rest of the words I need. But while you're here, how has your day been? Make sure to hydrate people.

While this song could be about absolutely anything at all, I see it as addiction. Whether alcoholism, drug addiction, coffee, e*ting dis*rders or s*lf h*rm. Often intrusive thoughts can severely plague our mind. "I can make you feel alive", "Do I need you to survive?", "Maybe a cup of self-control would be the route." These are all thoughts of someone with an addictive personality. For example when I s*lf h*rm, my mind is continuously saying that I need it to be whole and that I need it to continue living. And my ed always tells me that "another pound can't hurt". But of course, this song could all be about wanting some damn coffee.

this song, i beleve is focusing on addiction, others influencing this addiction, peer pressure, but the self control to stop is needed as well, the wanting to feel alive also comes in, i personly think its about addiction but with Jack Stauber you never know he might just want coffee and we're all overthinking it

It sounds like it could be referring to addition where verse 1 is when he first tried the drug or as the song reference to coffee and how you can get easily addicted to it. Verse 2 talks when he does it more and when he stops feeling something from it he wants to try another drug or type of coffee and where he says that he can't believe that's him thinking to him self sand trying to step back from the addition. Verse 3 in the last verse it sounds like other people are telling him to try different drugs but he stops and goes to rehab.

maybe this song is about an addiction to alcohol? 'maybe a cup of self control would be the route', 'if it swallowed me whole, would i see it?' would explain it. perhaps the protagonist is going through rehab but failing ('i can make you feel alive' 'just a sip'). 'am i dumbfounded when i slip' could symbolize going clean for a month or so, but then starting to drink again.
then again, this is literally just a song from like adult swim or something, and also a jack stauber song, so it could be anything.

It sounds like it could be about anything you feel addicted to. It always kinda reminds me of my eating disorder as I often restrict to "make myself feel alive." Some other replies mentioned self harm or alcohol addiction and those could definitly be it too. In essence I think youd song is really about addiction.

true it can mean anything it's a jack stauber song. it can mean he is trying to stop drinking coffee or he's going through a emotional sickness. it is likely that he's addicted to coffee and the voices are his urge to drink it again that's also likely to be the case.

Going by the fact that Jack Stauber songs seem to be telling an over arching story, I’m going to say that both this song, and the song Choice go hand in hand. Coffee seems to tell the story of (granted, I have 2 meanings for this but just bare with me here) a man struggling with addiction, possibly drug addiction or alcohol (you do drink both alcohol and coffee) or maybe both but there becoming aware of it and are conflicted. Based on the lines, “do I need it?”, “can I beat it?” And “would I see it? If it swallowed me whole”. They seem to imply that this person is becoming more aware of there addiction and there trying to see whether or not they have gone to far, but there also arguing with themself, based on the lines “I can make you feel alive! I know, but do I need you to survive?” Meaning that they know the drugs/alcohol/etc. (take your pick), make him feel better but he doesn’t want to be dependent on them. (I also feel like this person is seeing hallucinations, just over all). Then, there’s the song choice which seems to take place after this one, and it explains that their addiction has gotten worse and they get pity for it, i.e the lines “I am injury, no you aren’t! You made the choice to be!” Which I assume means they stuck to the drugs/alcohol/etc. I also feel like choice and coffee are connected based on the fact that in choice the chorus says, “caffeinate!” And coffee makes people caffeinated, I also see a connection between the struggle with control which is very obvious in coffee and again mirrored in the chorus of choice, where it says, “love, pain, heart, control! Caffeinate!”. This seems to mean that there is someone struggling to get threw there day and then using alcohol/drugs/etc. as there escape. I also think this song could be referencing caffeine addiction and how it’s so normal in society but really shouldn’t be.

i would say the meaning is about haveing no self control or being addicted to something like drug use you dont have self control to say "nope fuck the drugs they kill me slowly" since stop useing drugs is very hard to do and your very addicted to drugs so i think the song is about drug use and having no self controll over it but thats my opinion

umm… just listen to the song or look at the lyrics? or maybe even look at the title? u guys r getting out of hand with all these things. it’s OBVIOUSLY about coffee and nothing else. i don’t understand how some of u think the song is about sexual harassment. who would want to listen to a song about needing to control their disgusting sexual urges like that. some people say it could be a drug addiction which is more reasonable, but in the end i think it’s only about coffee.
