Troopers of the stars is a song about the 1997 satirical sci-fi movie Starship Troopers. Described by its creators as the most expensive art film ever made, Starship Troopers depicts humans needlessly starting a war with a race of alien bugs known as the Arachnids. While the fascist Terran Federation thinks that it will be able to win the war easily by destroying the Arachnids home system, Klendathu, they severely miscalculate leading to a severe loss of life. The troopers are then sent to Planet P where they are deliberately deployed into a trap by Military Intelligence to prove the existence of 'Brain Bugs'. They are then sent back down again to capture this brain bug. The film ends on this note with seemingly little progress towards the end of the war and a lot of dead bodies. It is often said that the film contains a large number of similarities to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which the creators describe as 'half accidental'.
