The Script – Long Gone And Moved On lyrics

[Instrumental]

[Verse 1]
When's the day you start again
And when the hell does you'll get over it begin
I'm looking hard in the mirror
But I don't fit my skin
It's too much to take
It's too hard to break me
From the cell I'm in

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh from this moment on
I'm changing the way I feel yeah
From this moment on
It's time to get a real

[Chorus]
Cause I still don't know how to act
Don't know what to say
Still wear the scars like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
Cause you're long gone
But I still don't know where to start, still finding my way
Still talk about you like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
But you're long gone, you moved on

[Verse 2]
So how'd you pick the pieces up yeah
I'm barely used to saying me instead of us
The elephant in the room keeps scaring off the guests
It gets under my skin to see you with him
And it's not me that you're with

[Pre-Chorus]
Oh from this moment on
I'm changing the way I feel yeah
From this moment on
It's time to get a real

[Chorus]
Cause I still don't know how to act
Don't know what to say
Still wear the scars like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
Cause you're long gone
But I still don't know where to start, still finding my way
Still talk about you like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
But you're long gone, you moved on

[Bridge]
No I can't keep thinking that you're coming back
No
Cause I got no business knowing where you're at
No
And it's gonna be hard yeah
Cause I have to wanna heal yeah
And it's gonna be hard yeah
The way I feel that I have to get real

[Chorus]
I still don't know how to act
Don't know what to say
Still wear the scars like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
But you're long gone
But I still don't know where to start, still finding my way
Still talk about you like it was yesterday
But you're long gone and moved on
But you're long gone, you moved on

[Outro]
But you're long gone, you moved on
Eh eh, oh oh
Eh eh, oh oh
But you're long gone, you moved on

My anatomy phys teacher is going to teach in guatemala next year and I just found out that I am never going to see him again. He was the most amazing teacher in the world not to mention how funny he was and how mug everyone else adored him. He is about 23 and I'm 6 years younger and we both had something special in each of our hearts for each other that we never spoke of. Now I will never know. He's long gone and moving on and I will never forget the impact he has on my life.

To me, it means he still loves her and doesn't understand how she could have moved on so quickly. It obviously was her idea to break up, and judging by the lyrics, she may have left him for another man. He is hurting and trying to move on, but he still has so many questions, and until he gets the answers and learns how to get by without her, he will never move on the way she has. I can relate to this. My fiance left me last month for another girl, and I still have to fight back the tears when I think about it too much. I love him with all my heart, I always will, but I know that I will eventually have to stop hating myself and face the facts. He's not coming back. This song is wonderful and I love The Script so much.

This song expresses how hard it is to move on. He was asking the person he loved how she moved on that instantly because him? He doesn't know how and where to start. He couldn't forget and accept it so easily and he isn't used of being alone yet. He couldn't even get out from the pain that the past had given him. He couldn't start all over again because he feels that she would come back. He keeps on thinking about her with another guy and it feels so sad. In this song, he's trying to convince himself that he should change the way he feels for her because she is already long gone and moved on and she has a another life with someone else already. In the bridge part of the song, he states that it would be hard but he's got to get heal. Indeed there's never an easy way/method/step when it comes to moving on. Only time can tell when the wound heals. One thing is for sure, in the right time it will. :)

For me this song, relates more to the boys. The girl was already uptight and already moved on as time passed by, but the boy still has thoughts that the girl would comeback to his arms again knowing that time had healed the girl already, the boy foolishly still waited for the time, and at the same time, trying to accept the fact that she's long gone and moved on. : p
