Taylor Swift – Love Story lyrics

We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air

See the lights
See the party, the ball gowns
See you make your way through the crowd
And say hello, little did I know

That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you please don't go, and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while

Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said stay away from Juliet
But you were everything to me
I was begging you please don't go and I said

Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting all there's left to do is run

You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess
It's a love story baby just say yes

Romeo save me, they're tryin to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story baby just say yes

Oh oh

I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town, and I said

Romeo save me I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think

He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring and said

Marry me Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story baby just say yes

Oh, oh,
Oh, oh
Cause we were both young when I first saw you...

Okay everyone who is fighting on here, cut the crap. You guys are all acting like 11-year-olds. Seriously, go on here, read the lyrics. Maybe say "Hey I like this song." Keep your negative opinions to yourself. If someone says something that's calling you out, ignore it! When you reply and say something back, you're just as bad as them, if not worse.
Urnerds, just drop it. Immature as she might be, she has a right to like the song.
Icvarlyx411, let it go! Like jeez. Please grow up already. Alright? You're acting like an immature little kid. He didn't even single you out, and you still felt the ridiculously pointless need to advocate for yourself and other people who you don't even know!
Drop it and stop fighting! Your clogging up the boards.

This song is jst downryt adorable!
Speshally the muzic vid, awww! Taylorz vocalz rock and shes so butiful in classic dress. Its based on romeo and juliet excpt that, um, they both die at da end of the real play. ?
But taylor is so caring 4 her fanz she would never put sumthin as scary as death in 1 of her songz. Most of her songz are about love but I'm so ok wit dat!
Excpt "thug story" but dat song kinda not nice. But who am I 2 judge I only read da lyrics 1ce. Ill go read it again den I come bak and tell you iof I liked it. =)

This song means a lot to me. It's my favourite when I met my ex. When we were together, it became our song as it reminds me so much of him. My dad hates him, we wanted to get married but couldn't. I always thought he is my romeo, and I will run away with him. We would be together forever, no matter what. But of course, it didn't happen, turns out he's a cheater. I guess my dad has his reasons after all. Haha. Fairy tales do happen in real life, I am just not one of the lucky ones. Now that we've broken up, I still miss him dearly and I will still cry every time I listen to this song. Still, I love this song, it's still great. =)

This is an pretty intricate song. The lyrics are much more complex than one might think, they are actually a social commentary on the marital system in early elizabethan society. It's allegorical nature refers not only to the well known Shakespearean play, but also refers to several different playwrites who were contemporaries of the brilliant poet. The complex lyrics are mirrored by the songs unparalleled use of circular picking techniques and creative chord progressions. An impressive feat.
