Taylor Swift – Dear John lyrics
Long were the nights when my days once revolved around you
Counting my footsteps, praying the floor won't fall through
Again
And my mother accused me of losing my mind
But I swore I was fine
You paint me a blue sky
And go back and turn it to rain

And I lived in your chess game but you changed the rules everyday
Wonderin' which version of you I might get on the phone
Tonight

Well I stopped picking up and this song is to let you know why
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress cried the whole way home
I should've known
Well maybe it's me and my blind optimism to blame
Maybe it's you and you're sick need to give love and take it away
And you'll add my name to your long list of traitors who don't understand
And I'll look back and regret how I ignored when they said run as fast as you can
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress cried the whole way home
Dear John, I see it all now, it was wrong
Don't you think 19's too young to be played by your dark twisted games
When I loved you so
I should have known
You are an expert at "sorry"
And keeping lines blurry

Never impressed by me acing your tests
All the girls that you've run dry have tired, lifeless eyes
Cause you burned them out
But I took your matches before fire could catch me
So don't look now
I'm shining like fireworks over your sad empty town
...
Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress cried the whole way home
I see it all now that you're gone
Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?
The girl in the dress wrote you a song
You should've known
You should've known
Don't you think I was too young?
You should've known...

This song represents how a girl can date someone older & how the older guy begins to take advantage of her. He makes her fall in love with him then after he has her where he wants to. He begins to mess with her & break her heart like he did to the long list of girls he's already done that to. P. S this song is written about john mayer & how he did all of that to taylor swift.

Why can't you guys just admit shes agood song writer and a singer. If I my self had the talent of writing such sweet song. Even fabricating failure love stories and relation ships as she's doing. That wud be amazing to me. And to any girl I guess. Good for her that she went after her dreams since she was even a kid. She worked hard to be such a sweet singer. I sing a lil and right some lil poems. But I dun hav the guts to go after things as she had done thro all her life. Gl for every onee.
    * And it wud be so sweeet if shes back to taylor lautner; 3. That guy is edable lol luckyy swift and gomez =l *

She was in a relationship where she cared more. Her entire life revolved around him everything about him. She hoped tht her heart wouldnt be broken this time. Some days he makes her really happy. Then the next he makes her sad. She always comprimises with him with what he wants but its never good enough for him. He didn't mind if she cared or not. He'd treat her bad. She blames herself for being so blind when she was with him, but now that they're done she realises its better off without him because she deserves better. She tells him. Don't you think I was too young to be played? I deserve more. She says how its mean how he gave her so much love as did she, and he just pulled away from her. Leading her on to a heartbrake. But she's okay now that she realised it. But she hoped she would've known sooner. She didn't let him effect her so bad to the point where it takes over her life. She thinks shes living better without him. She always felt for his tricks and his lies which led her to many tears. But now that he's gone. She's fine. She just wishes she would've known and listened to those who told her not to be with him.

Dear john. This boy was a player, but this incredible, yet naive girl couldn't see it at first. She was lovestruck. The day this girl realised, her blind optimism finally unblurred. This boy was not so special. She deserves better than him. John may now be regretful with the way he treated this wonderful girl. He should regret every ounce of him that mistreated her. He deserves everything that comes his way. And as for the girl, she has her whole life to be wonderfully happy.

Check and mate! Now "poor john" is feeling "hurt" by the truth of the lyrics. Perhaps he has matured and gained the ability to manage his own behavior by now, but there's no denying that for some rather long span of time he behaved like a bee determined to pollinate every flower in the garden in the shortest possible time span. John, never play with the unseasoned, sensitive heart of a woman who has a better, more intelligent mind than you do. Especially if she is also a better songwriter, musician and performer than you are, you ain't that cool dude.

I believe that there are some women who fall for men instantly because they want to be in love so bad or simply beacause it is in their nature to love. This is not neccessarily a problem but it can and will result it alot of heartache. It doesn't make either one weak
or responsible it just means that in this day and age it may take longer to find the "one" whether this song is directly about john mayer or not doesn't matter. It is from her perspective of her feelings, how she percieved things. And this is not to say that mr. Mayer has a medal of honor for his love life either. We know his track record. It is all just so coincedental that he chooses now to comment as his new album has just been released. Hmmm.

Just because she wrote a song about some guy, it doesn't mean that its going to be true. What if all these things are just some fairy tale that is in her head? And she was just using john to make her speak now album sparkle. Just like what she did with joe jonas on fearless. We need to hear john's story too to judge what really happen between these two. This could all be just a fake story she make just to make her popular. You could never know. Don't just simply judge john like that. It doesn't mean that he had a bad past life, he could never changed. I was just saying.

This song to me is how taylor fell in love with this man and he said he loved her too but he didn't. Then he starts to mess with her nd break her heart like the long lists of girls he's already done that to. This is about trying to forget the relationship that hurt you so badly but you still love him so much. This song is painful, regretful and worth crying for.

In my mind the meaning to this song is about an opinionated man (aka John or in my version my dad Ron.). Whatever you do for this person is never good enough for him, but you always keep trying to impress them. You always have to watch your step, when you speak or do any action for this person. If the "floor" does break you have to do so much for that person to make up for the thingyou might have done. Although, the person you try to make happy is horriable you still have an optismistic view and you hope that one day this person will soon wake up and actually be a person not some monster. But, you soon wake up and realize that this person is no good and all he does is bring pain and misery to your life.

Hmm dear john. Story of everyone woman's life. Girl falls selfish jerk. Guy proves himself a selfish jerk. Girl likes guy more. Guy doesn't care but in this case taylor swift got to make that selfish jerk care by making it a hit. You go girl! And to the girl who said she wanted to kil herself over a guy. Hunny idk about you but he probably wasn't the first and he won't be the last. No need to commit suicide just breath and take it all in. One day we will all get it right.
