[Verse 1]
I stay up too late, got nothing in my brain
That's what people say, um-um, that's what people say, um-um
I go on too many dates, but I can't make them stay

At least that's what people say, um-um, that's what people say, um-um

[Pre-Chorus]
But I keep cruising, can't stop, won't stop moving
It's like I got this music in my mind sayin' it's gonna be alright

[Chorus]
Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

[Verse 2]
I'll never miss a beat, I'm lightning on my feet
And that's what they don't see, umm-umm, that's what they don't see, um-um

I'm dancing on my own, I'll make the moves up as I go
And that's what they don't know, um-um, that's what they don't know, um-um

[Pre-Chorus]
But I keep cruising, can't stop, won't stop moving
It's like I got this music in my body and it's gonna be alright

[Chorus]
Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, Ishake it off
Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

[Refrain] (x4)
I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I shake it off, I shake it off

[Interlude]
Hey, hey, hey, just think while you've been getting down
And out about the liars and dirty, dirty cheats in the world you could have been getting down to this sick sick beat

[Bridge]
My ex-man bought his new girlfriend
She's like “oh my God”, but I'm just gonna shake it
And to the fella over there with the hella good hair
Won't you come on over, baby, we can shake, shake, shake

I personally think it is a comeback to Ed Sheeran's song "Don't" which sparked a lot attention. His song always seems mysterious as to who he was talking about, however he made a clear reference about the woman being a singer. Taylor then talks about heartbreakers and fakers which seems like a possible indirect to one of the many stars who she had dated in the past.

Of course, it is possible that it could be about Harry Styles or other guys who she has dated because he has had quite a few famous girlfriends himself, but Taylor would have no reason to get back at Harry by writing a song because their breakup wasn't drastic. Or of course, it could just be a generalised song towards haters and ex-boyfriends. However, it does seem too coincidental following Ed Sheeran's song.
Therefore, I think it's an indirect to Ed Sheeran and a comeback to all of the implicit things he possibly said about her.

Obviously I cannot be sure and I am not insulting either of these music artists because I love Ed Sheeran and I don't mind Taylor Swift's music; this is just a personal opinion.

I really love this song and the music video. She is changing her music, she is trying different things. She doesn't stuck on country music.
And this song isn't about a 'one guy' it's about not feeling sorry about everybody's thoughts and don't giving a permission to hit her feelings. So she is just shake it off. Haters gonna hate anyway. And you just need to shake it off.

What Taylor wants to say is that even with all the judgments and destructive criticism we/she receive/s we/she'll still be happier than those people. That no matter what people say to you,you know to yourself the truth. And while those people are taking their time just to get jealous,be mad and break you, you'll still be doing what you like and you're even happier than them.

Don't isn't meant for Taylor. Ed and Taylor are still relatively good friends. There are speculations that the song is about Ellie Goulding but I think we should just enjoy the music instead of trying to "decipher" who the song is about. Taylor has said that shake it off is generally about not caring what critics and other people think of you. That we should shake off he negative comments and do what we like to do. Many critics have said that her dancing is horrendous and this song is a comeback I guess. That she's still going to dance no matter what they say and that she'll shake off their criticism.
