Hold me now,
'Cause I couldn't even if I tried.
It's over now,
I guess it really is my time.

I don't wanna go,
But it's time I gotta say goodbye.
So hold me now,
'Cause this'll be our last time.

I'm slowing down,
And I don't think that I can fight.
I know somehow,
You'll find a way to live your life.

Remember just to live,
Ever day like it's your last.
And hold me now,
'Cause I think it's time for me to pass.

I don't wanna die,
I don't know why,
This kind of fate was meant for me.
You gotta be strong,
Gotta move on,
It's not how it was supposed to be.
What do I say,
It was never supposed to end up this way.
What do I have to do,
(I) Was supposed to grow old with you.

But that ain't gonna happen.
Mhmm.
No that ain't gonna happen.

Hold me now,
'Cause the time I've got's running out.
No tears allowed,
Even though we've become without.

I just wanna feel,
Your head laying on my chest.
So hold me now,
As I take my last breath.

I don't wanna die,
I don't know why,
This kind of fate was meant for me.
You gotta be strong,
Gotta move on,
It's not how it was supposed to be.
What do I say,
It was never supposed to end up this way.
What do I have to do,
(I) Was supposed to grow old with you.

But that ain't gonna happen.
Mhmm.
No that ain't gonna happen.

I have been in the same shoes as the person referred to by this song. Getting in a car crash and lying on the side of the road dying, reflecting, and making peace. But the only difference is i made it, i guess. Sometimes it doesn't feel that way... But anyhow the abrupt ending is perfect to the song. Great song.

It's about a car crash that Deryck witnessed, and the person in the song is dying but not dead yet, and is using their final thoughts to contemplate death and what they will miss.

I could be wrong but to me it seems like none of it is about a break up directly but about being in a situation in which the person is close to death and there is no way out.

He wishes he didn't separate with whoever because there is no one he'd want at his side during this situation more. Other parts are about his last thoughts such as "i don't wanna die" but it is mainly about how he won't be with his partner and he has missed out on living life with someone he loved and that in a near death situation, this will be the biggest regret of all.

This is just what i get from reading through it and i could go into more detail but you get what i mean and like i said, i could be wrong.
