Phantom Of The Opera – All I Ask Of You lyrics

[Both]; denotes Christine and Raoul.

No more talk of darkness
Forget these wide-eyed fears

I'm here nothing, can harm you
My words will warm and calm you

Let me be your freedom
Let daylight dry your tears

I'm here with you, beside you,
To guard you and to guide you

Say you'll love me every waking moment
Turn my head with talk of summer time
Say you need me with you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That's all I ask of you

Let me be your shelter
Let me be your light

You're safe, no one will find you
Your fears are far behind you

All I want is freedom
A world with no more night
And you, always beside me
To hold me and to hide me

Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime
Let me lead you from your solitude
Say you need me with you here, beside you
Anywhere you go let, me go too
Christine, that's all I ask of you

Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime
Say the word and I will follow you

Share each day with me each night, each morning,

Say you love me

You know I do

Love me, that's all I ask of you

(They kiss. Raoul. lifts Christine off her feet into, his arms and holds her)

Anywhere you go let, me go too
Love me that's, all I ask of you

I gave you my music, made your song take wing.
And now, how you've repaid me, denied me, and betrayed me
He was bound to love you when he heard you sing
(Sobs)Christine, Christine.

[Raoul & Christine]
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime
Say the word and I will follow you
Share each day with me, each night, each morning...

You will curse the day you did not do
All that the Phantom asked of you

Well to me this means that raoul and christine are confessing there love for each other. But. I am a phan of the phantom (i did not make a mistake in fan).
So. I disagree with her going with raoul. Because, I love the phantom. He showed her so much love. He never knew how to love another person. Showing that he would go so far for christine. I think it's beautiful.
    - erik angel forever.

I understand that there are arguments out there with Phantom vs Raoul, and I personally have to go with Raoul. He has known Christine since they were younger and deeply cares about her. The Phantom also cares about her, but killed many innocent people in order to get to her. So I think this song is simply Raoul and Christine proclaiming their love for one another and Raoul asking Christine to marry him and spend "one lifetime" with him as they share "one love".

The meaning if you watch the movie is that this was they song that Christine and Raoul declare their love for each other and yes the phantom was Christines teacher but Christine is scared to death of him and wants to go on with her life. She fell inlove with Raoul and if you actually watch the movie Raoul and Christine are engaged to each other in the next scene and the phantom wants what he can not have. Christine loves Raoul and it is a really good song.

All art has different interpretations. That's what makes it so intriguing to me. I have come to believe today that "All I ask of You" is a Love Song to me from God. Alot of people are afraid of the darkness. Many people have demons. I am no different than anyone else. However, the relationship I have with God is unique to us. His is a love like Raoul's, but God's Love for me IS Perfect. I, like Christine, Will Follow Him. Beautiful in a Song. Thanks!

In this song, raoul is giving his heart to christine and promising that he would shelter her from the fear she has of the phantom, and if she let him, he would take her away to a place where she would be safe and secure. Christine, wanting desperately to be free from her fears accepts. Unbeknownst to either of them, the phantom, who is insanely obsessed with christine, overhears and "declares war on them both", as the film suggests.
The song is about safety and security in true love.
