There's a moment in time
And it's stuck in my mind
Way back, when we were just kids
Cause your eyes told the tale
Of an act of betrayal
I knew that somebody did
Oh, waves of time
Seem to wash away
The scenes of our crimes
But for you this never ends
Can you stay strong?
Can you go on?
Kristy are you doing okay?
A rose that won't bloom
Winter's kept you
Don't waste your whole life trying
To get back what was taken away
Though the marks on your dress
Had been neatly repressed
I knew that something was wrong
And I should have spoke out
And I'm so sorry now
I didn't know
Cause we were so young
Oh, clouds of time
Seem to rain on
Innocence left behind
And it never goes away
this song is bout a girl who was going through the stage in her life when she could not figure out who she was and she was possibly being molested, to put it in the simplest of words she could not figure out where she fit in, and who was her true friends, or even who to trust anymore.
This song is definatly about a girl who was getting molested. nobody wants to realize it, but this happens to a lot of young girls. i bet that in a high school of like 400 kids, at least 10 of them are getting or have gotten molested at one time. i mean, it is a sad song, and if you know of anyone who is hurting like this, then tell someone. it just shows how much you care for them if you can step up and help them out. if you dont, trust me, they will grow up to have sum problems. im 14, and because of wat happend to me when i was younger, i cry a lot. i have someone now who would do anything to protect me, and for that im grateful. i dont want this to ever happen to anyone. . . and yes, i LOOOVE this song. everytime i listen to it it makes me cry, and my bf once sang it to me, but replaced kristy with my name. hez such a sweetie!!
I agree with you NancyPie...this song definitely describes the aftermath of a rape. If "Kristy" is someone he knows, its never too late to offer guidance and support. She will need it for the rest of her life. Its a really good song; is gives hope to those of us who are in that dark place.
My name is Kristy, I lived this song out in my teen years and would have reveled in the thought that someone cared enough to want to know how i was doing. I suffered in silence with the few of my friends who knew. I never blamed them for not speaking out, because I didn't either. That was over 20 years ago and yes I was strong, I did move on, and yes I am "DOING OK!!!"
