Luck. Runs. Out.
Crawl from the wreckage one more time
Horrific memories twist the mind
Dark, rugged, cold and hard to turn
Path of destruction, feel it burn
Still life
Incarnation
Still life
Infamy

Hallucination
Heresy
Still you run, what's to come?
What's to be?

'Cause we hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long, yeah
Luck. Runs. Out!

You crawl back in
But your luck runs out-ahh

Luck. Runs. Out.

The light that is not light is here
To flush you out with your own fear
You hide, you hide, but will be found
Release your grip without a sound

Still life
Immolation
Still life
Infamy

Hallucination
Heresy
Still you run, what's to come?
What's be?

'Cause we hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Luck. Runs.Out.

You crawl back in
But your luck runs out

Then you crawl back in
Into your obsession
Never to return
This is your confession

Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long
Feel us breathe upon your face
Feel us shift, every move we trace
Hunt you down without mercy
Hunt you down all nightmare long, yeah
Luck. Runs. Out!

You crawl back in
But your luck runs out

Your luck runs out!

This song is based on H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos, as are "The Thing That Should Not Be" and "Call of Ktulu". Cliff Burton was a big Lovecraft fan and turned Hetfield onto the mythos. Look if up if you don't believe me.

Well the message of this song is quite obvious, I think. Metallica is chasing you down and there's nowhere to hide! It is probably reflecting on wars, or actually when I read the lyrics over, I start to imagine a brutal alien invasion.
I love Metallica. I'm so glad I discovered them. I went through a tough time in school, and Metallica was one of my favourite bands, as the lyrics always make me feel strong and empowered when I felt angry or depressed. Metal really is the best medicine for any psychological problems you may have. I could listen to these songs over and over because the emotions in them are so amazing, and I LOVE the way that Metallica songs always change completely towards the end to an almost new song, and everything is done so perfectly. They are the most talented band I know.
