Mayday Parade – Miserable At Best lyrics

Katie, don't cry, I know
You're trying your hardest
And the hardest part is letting go
Of the nights we shared
Ocala is calling and you know it's haunting
But compared to your eyes, nothing shines quite as bright
And when we look to the sky, it's not mine, but I want it

So, let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
(I know he's there and)
You're probably hanging out and making eyes
(While across the room he stares)
I bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance, she'll say yes

Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess
But I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you I'll be miserable at best

You're all that I hoped I'd find
In every single way
And everything I would give
Is everything you couldn't take
Cause nothing feels like home, you're a thousand miles away
And the hardest part of living
Is just taking breaths to stay

Cause I know I'm good for something
I just haven't found it yet
But I need it

So, let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
(I know he's there and)
You're probably hanging out and making eyes
(While across the room he stares)
I bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance, she'll say yes

Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess
But I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you I'll be miserable at best

Ladada ladada ladadaoh ohhh

And this will be the first time in a week
That I'll talk to you
And I can't speak
It's been three whole days since I've had sleep
Cause I dream of his lips on your cheek
And I got the point that I should leave you alone
But we both know that I'm not that strong
And I miss the lips that made me fly

So, let's not pretend like you're alone tonight
(I know he's there and)
You're probably hanging out and making eyes
(While across the room he stares)
I bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor
And ask my girl to dance, she'll say yes

Because these words were never easier for me to say
Or her to second guess
But I guess
That I can live without you but
Without you I'll be miserable
And I can live without you but
Without you I'll be miserable
And I can live without you but
Oh, without you I'll be miserable at best...

Well the lead singer (Derek) was going out with this girl names Katie. While he was away on tour Katie met this guy named Mike and she ended up cheating on Derek in every way possible. And then when he was coming home from a very stress full concert Derek knew all along that she was cheating on him and Katie finally fessed up to him about Mike. So Derek as in the song loved her so much he had to let her go so she could be happy. He knew he could live without her just would be miserable. But it was for the best of Katie.

Again this song is about his ex girlfriend Katie and how she cheated on Derek(lead singer).
He was away on a tour (I thing it was the one with All Time Low.)
and she met this guy Mike and she ended up cheating on Derek with him while he performed because he was never around. Mike reminded Katie of Derek in pretty much every way. And then coming home from a very stress full concert Katie finally fessed up. Though Derek had known all along.

Wow the lead singer derek (am I right?) was so in love with this girl to the point of just giving up on her? And giving her to someone who stole her from him such a nice guy but I would even do that my first gf break up with me saying she has someone new because it was a long distance relationship I know all along it was bound to be broken even thou were at the same school in high school and were constantly seeing each other I never thought that she would cheat on me! And that was my first heart break my first love that broke my heart!
When I heard this song I remember her and all the lies and promises she said to me and then when we meet up the only thing coming up on my mind was forgive her! I can't even be mad at her!
Sorry for the long comment love the band the song and eventually I love the people here for discussing what this song is all about haha I wish they made more relating songs like this good luck may day parade!

I agree with Oh-Shit_casey on it. I think it's also about how hard it was for Derek and Katie to break up though.
I really love this song, it helped me when a girl cheated on me with her ex-boyfriend. We were friends before our relationship and still are, but it really hurt, because I had been the one to help her when she was broken up with by him, and I stopped her from hurting herself over it, then one day she said she was going to hang out alone one night, and someone told me she was with her ex, and then when I found out what they had been doing, this song just poped into my mind and then it was on constent replay for like two weeks.
It really helped me through it.
