Mayday Parade – Take This To Heart lyrics

Cause I'm a mess and you know that I can't help it
The drive home never seemed this long before
Killing time just a little bit faster
And I swear we'll make it

But I can't tell you what I don't know
(Be mine tonight, be mine tonight)
The simple things, they make my heart go
(Be mine tonight, be mine tonight)
But I can't tell you what I don't know
You'll have to wait
You'll have to wait

Stay Safe, Stay strong
And let me know that you'll be here when I am gone
Because I'm coming home
Coming home tonight
Let's get this right
I said I'm coming home
Coming home tonight

You said it hurts and you know that I believe you
Searching every little thing to find a way
To tell your heart just to wait a little longer
I swear we'll make it

But I can't tell you what I don't know
(Be mine tonight, be mine tonight)
The simple things, they make my heart go
(Be mine tonight, be mine tonight)
But I can't tell you what I don't know
You'll have to wait
You'll have to wait

Stay Safe, Stay strong
And let me know that you'll be here when I am gone
Because I'm coming home
Coming home tonight
Let's get this right
I said I'm coming home
Coming home tonight

One more night
And we'll go spinning around the room
And dance with our hearts on fire
Cause every song is ours tonight
And if you love me so
I'm gonna to tell the whole world
That it's greatest thing that happened to me
I finally found a good reason to come home

Stay Safe, Stay strong
And let me know that you'll be here when I am gone
Because I'm coming home
Coming home tonight
Let's get this right
I said I'm coming home
Coming home tonight

It's not a millitary song, or about a guy in jail or whatever. Think about it. It's about their own experiences, so it means that he was in love with a girl back home and couldn't see her much because he was in a band and on tour or something, and telling her to stay strong until he got home. It's about holding on to a long distant relationship even though it's hard because there is love there.

Ughhh you people are so ignorant. Song meanings are left open for everyone's interpretations and if you really must know this song was probably wrote while one of them was thinking about someone back home where they live! Bands play lots of shows away from home (if you didn't know) so they we're probably talking about a girlfriend or something like that from their hometown. And catishere5. You are so dumb!
Do you really think they used their boyfriend getting locked up as inspiration for this song or something? I mean really. But hey that's your interpretation and I hope your situation's improving. Hahahaha. Wow.

Its about your boyfriend being locked up and you being here for him while he is gone and all you want it for him to come back home and you hope the time apart doesn't affect your feelings for them
stay strong and keep your heart strong to wait a little longer for him to come back home to you.
    *Better than any other explaination*
I sing this song everyday my boyfriend is locked up and it relates to us completly.
