You say you're not going to fight
'Cause no one will fight for you
And you think there's not enough love
And no one to give it to
And you're sure you've hurt for so long
You've got nothing left to lose
So you say you're not gonna fight
'Cause no one will fight for you

You say the weight of the world
Has kept you from letting go
And you think compassion's a flaw
And you'll never let it show
And you're sure you've hurt in a way
That no one will ever know

But someday the weight of the world
Will give you strength to go

Hold on, the weight of the world
Will give you the strength to go
So hold on, the weight of the world
Will give you the strength to go
So hold on, the weight of the world
Will give you the strength to go
Just hold, on the weight of the world
Will give you the strength to go

I think this whole album has a meaning, but i'll post it here and keep it brief. So the way i see it, there are two empires- both sort of evil regimes with loads of poor and a few rich. This is explained throughout the songs. Some songs, like this one, speak from the poor's point of view where they loath their lives because they have little or nothing. Other songs, such as "when they come for me" are spoken from the rich's point of view, bragging about how powerful they are. One main voice, the voice seen here in "robot boy" seems to stand out, though it first appear in "waiting for the end. " in "waiting for the end," the people cry out in hope that they will be helped out of poverty and the voice just wants to go, but in "robot boy" the angels speak to him, telling him he needs to fill his purpose before he can leave the earth. Finally, in "blackout," one of the king's highest powers turns on him and kills him, freeing the people. The people cry out and ask for help from an angel or god, but they're happy because they are freed. Then, in "wretches and kings," the other empire takes back over, but the poor still cry out and that's what the song ends with. In the next couple of songs (forgetting their names), the people fight off the new empire, led by the poor man who spoke out in "robot boy. " all he wants is for god to take him off the earth, and he leads the revolution hoping that once he fills this duty, god will save him. Finally, they win the battle, pushed by promises of freedom and happiness, led by the man in "iridescent. " in the song "the catalyst," the people thank god for pulling them through and the poor man, tired, duties fulfilled, asks to finally be taken up to heaven. The people cheer him on and he is taken up. "the messenger" is sung from the point of view of view of someone who has witnessed the whole thing and leads the people in memory of the other man who had led them. Love had won them freedom.

Hopefully all this made sense and helped you all with your interpretations of this masterpiece of an album. (i know some linkin park fans were really upset with it, but i think that once you've listened to it through and really think about the meaning of it, you begin to appreciate it more and more).

Most of the song explains its own meaning.

    "The weight of the world
will give you the strength to go"

I think this means that the more pressure we experience--the more we are challenged, the more we challenge ourselves--the greater we can become. We do not move without being prompted. Sometimes it takes something outside ourselves to make us see that it's time to change.

Basically saying that you go through pain, and you have lost your meaning, your push to keep going. The weigh is to much so make your self walls and harden you heart so no one will see but one day the weight will show you why to keep fighting. What you fight for every day, why to keep pushing.
